
Viu has officially launched its Malaysian adaptation of the hit Korean drama series, W: Two Worlds, featuring a star-studded line-up including Hun Haqeem, Daiyan Trisha, Faizal Hussein, Mierul Aiman, Elizabeth Tan, Tony Eusoff and Shahkimin. The romance fantasy thriller series is set to premiere on 30 November 2023, with two new episodes to be released every Thursday thereafter.

W: Two Worlds reunites the talented duo of director Datuk Yusry Abdul Halim and producer Zurina Ramli for their third collaboration. The two first worked together on Viu Malaysia’s adaptation of She Was Pretty (2022) which went on to win two national awards at the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2022. They followed it up with the highly acclaimed Viu Original, Nenek Bongkok Tiga which was released in February this year. With a proven track record of success, Yusry and Zurina’s creative partnership guarantees a captivating and top-tier production that will leave audiences spellbound.
W: Two Worlds follows the story of Izara, a young doctor whose father Omar, is the creator of the popular webtoon series, W. When Omar disappears without a trace, Izara’s search for him inexplicably transports her into the webtoon world, where she saves the life of the main character, Aliff. In doing so, she finds herself being written into the story, as the webtoon takes on a life of its own and begins to function as a distinct reality. Aliff has been hunting for the man who murdered his family ten years ago. He realises that Izara’s fate and his are somehow intertwined, unaware that he is a character in a webtoon. As the two worlds collide, all sorts of unexpected situations arise that lead to conflict and of course, romance.
Hun Haqeem plays Aliff, the captivating hero with a tragic past. Hun is one of the hottest young stars in the industry today, having made his mark with standout performances in projects such as the Viu Original Nenek Bongkok Tiga (2023), Imam Instant Ustazah Scammer (2023) and Kampung People (2020-2021). His exceptional talent and dedication were recognised when he was nominated for Most Popular New Male Artist at the Berita Harian Popular Star Awards 2020.
Izara is played by Daiyan Trisha. With an impressive portfolio of hit shows including Projek: High Council (2023), Tetuan Ang & Rahimin (2022) and Projek: Anchor SPM (2021), this talented actress has proven her versatility and commitment to her craft. Her role in 2018’s Busker earned her a nomination for Best New Actress at the 2019 Malaysian Film Festival. Apart from acting, Daiyan is also a singer and writer who recently launched a book of poetry.
W: Two Worlds also features the talents of veteran actor Faizal Hussein who plays Izara’s father, Omar. Recent highlights from Faizal Hussein’s career include his roles in Harum Malam (2023), One Cent Thief (2022) and i-Tanggang (2021). Faizal won Best Actor in a Drama at Anugerah Skrin 2019 for Samad Tedung, and Best Actor at the 2012 Malaysian Film Festival for Bunohan. His talent, dedication, and consistent excellence make him a perennial fan favourite and a much sought-after actor.
Rising star Mierul Aiman plays Ghazi, Aliff’s loyal bodyguard and wingman. Mierul Aiman is making waves in the industry with noteworthy projects such as Projek: High Council (2023), Imam Instant Ustazah Scammer (2023) and Akim & Mira: Kisah Cinta 1999 (2023). Mierul Aiman’s outstanding performances in these projects earned him a well-deserved nomination for BBNU Lelaki Popular at ABPBH 2023.
Elizabeth Tan plays Hanna, Aliff’s childhood friend and personal assistant, who finds herself caught between duty and love. Elizabeth Tan has built an impressive career with notable projects such as Special Force: Anarchy (2023), Abang Long Fadil 3 (2022) and Keluarga Baha Don Season 3 (2021). Elizabeth is also a singer, with an extensive discography going back to 2014. Her exceptional talent earned her a nomination for Choice Hopeful Celebrity at the EH! Style Awards in 2016.
Another seasoned actor joining the line-up is Tony Eusoff, who takes the role of public prosecutor turned politician, Musa. Tony was most recently seen in the thriller series, Liar (2023) which is the Malaysian adaptation of the hit British series of the same name. His other works include standout performances in Histeria The Series (2022), Penunggang Agama (2021) and Daulat (2020). Tony Eusoff continues to impress and leave a lasting impact on audiences, making him an actor to watch in the world of entertainment.
Rounding off the cast is Shahkimin who plays Rafi, the eccentric but passionate comic assistant to Omar. Shahkimin has graced the screen with his comedic talents in projects such as She Was Pretty (2022), The Pak Mat Clan (2022) and Kampung People (2019-2022).
