Triumph Fencing Studio has successfully hosted its Triumph Fencing Wira Pedang Invitational 2025 on 27–28 September at Glo Damansara, Kuala Lumpur. The two-day event has recorded more than 300 participants aged 6 to the senior category for an intense competition in foil, épée, and sabre.
Beyond competition, this Invitational celebrates sport, community, and talent. With support from parents, schools, and organizations like the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), the Malaysian Fencing Federation (MFF), and the Selangor Amateur Fencing Association (SAFA), fencing is finding its place in Malaysia’s sporting landscape. Triumph Fencing Studio nurtures athletes who excel in skill while embodying discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

Rizal Ashraf bin Rosli, Founder and Head Coach of Triumph Fencing Studio, expressed his enthusiasm: “This inaugural tournament isn’t just about the thrill of the competition — it’s about showing how fencing can inspire people of all ages to discover joy, discipline, and the true spirit of sport. Grassroots competitions like this shape tomorrow’s champions by honing technical skill and building match experience, both of which are crucial steps for Malaysia to nurture fencers who can one day challenge at international competitions.”

For parents, the Invitational is also about character-building and family bonding. Mrs Hsu, a Triumph Fencing Studio parent, expressed: “Watching my child compete in this tournament means more than just winning medals; it’s about seeing her confidence grow, her discipline shine, and the life lessons she takes away from fencing that go far beyond the sport. My husband and I also took up fencing because we wanted a sport we could share as a family, and we love how it brings us closer together while keeping us active.”
Another parent, Mrs Kaur, reflected on her child’s journey: “As parents, we introduce our children to many different sports at the foundational level, but my son discovered his own passion for fencing and continues to dream bigger with each step. We support and motivate him, and we’re proud that the sport has strengthened his sense of sportsmanship and inspired him to share that spirit with his friends, thanks to the camaraderie within the fencing community.”
“The sport has given my child a space to discover her potential. Fencing’s fast pace and tactical nature sharpen her focus, resilience, and adaptability, while giving her goals beyond academics. We’re grateful for local youth competitions that let even young kids learn perseverance and sportsmanship from an early age,” said Mr Hazwan, another young fencer’s parent.
In preparation for the tournament, Triumph Fencing Studio held “Thrive in Five,” a two-day workshop for students and parents. The program focused on five key areas important for athletes: body conditioning, nutrition, tactical skills, mental strength, and muscle recovery. The workshop highlighted how fencing helps develop stronger, healthier, and more confident individuals both on and off the piste.
Coach Rizal added, “Whether it’s a child gaining confidence, a teenager sharpening their skills, or an adult rediscovering their passion, the weekend was about building character, strengthening community, and inspiring a next generation of champions. Well done to all the participants who fenced above their level during the weekend. It was tough, but keep at it and you’ll develop your skills faster!”
