Panasonic Malaysia launches THE BARIKAN for professional grooming with Japanese quality

Panasonic Malaysia has launched THE BARIKAN, targeting barbers, hairstylists, and grooming enthusiasts. The first product is the ER-XT70 T-Shaped Trimmer. Following successful launches in Japan, Europe, and the U.S., Malaysia is key to expanding THE BARIKAN in Southeast Asia. Named after the Japanese term for hair clippers, it honors Japan’s barbering heritage dating back to the Meiji era. Panasonic aims to enhance modern barbering with high-performance tools and foster the evolution of barber culture globally.

“THE BARIKAN embodies Panasonic’s philosophy of Japanese Quality, where craftsmanship, precision and attention to detail come together to create products professionals can trust. Inspired by Japan’s rich barbering culture and backed by decades of expertise in grooming technology, the ER-XT70 delivers the performance, reliability and usability needed to support today’s grooming professionals and enthusiasts. Thoughtfully designed to enhance both precision and usability, THE BARIKAN reflects our commitment to creating products that elevate everyday experiences through the quality and care synonymous with Japanese craftsmanship,” said Keisuke Nishida, Managing Director of Panasonic Malaysia.

Panasonic entered the professional clipper market over 40 years ago, using the skills gained from many years of making electric shavers. Their hair clippers and trimmers are known for being lightweight, easy to use, and providing precise cuts. This has made them popular among barbers and stylists. As a result, Panasonic is a leader in the market in Japan and key European countries like Germany, France, and Italy, where their products have been the top choice for professional hairdressers and barbers for nine years in a row since 2016.

Recently, the “fade” haircut, which features a smooth transition from short to longer hair, has become very popular around the world. Barbers are also getting more recognition in the grooming industry. Seeing this change, Panasonic is focusing on creating products specifically for barbers. By connecting with the barbering culture and values, Panasonic wants to provide tools that meet professional needs and help users express their creativity and improve their skills.

Crafted in Japan, the ER-XT70 trimmer is designed for professionals needing precise grooming tools. Its slim neck design allows for an unobstructed view of the cutting area, essential for clean lines and detailed work around contours like the ears and hairline.

The slim profile enhances visibility and control, facilitating cleaner finishes. With Panasonic’s 45° blade-edge technology, it offers a sharp, efficient cut even on thick hair. A high-torque motor operating at up to 8,000 RPM ensures steady performance, while precision-rounded blade tips provide a comfortable cutting experience.

The combination of advanced blade technology and customizable speed settings allows users to tailor their grooming approach, balancing power and finesse. The ER-XT70 exemplifies Panasonic’s dedication to quality craftsmanship and innovation in modern grooming.

Key features include:

  • Slim-neck profile for all-access visibility, reach, and detailing
  • 45° Japanese stainless-steel blades paired with a high-torque motor for precise, effortless cutting without tugging
  • Precision rounded blade tips for clean, gentle cutting
  • Customisable speed settings, offering both power and finesse

Panasonic is working with MR.BROTHERS CUT CLUB, a well-known Japanese barbershop that puts a modern twist on classic American barber culture. This partnership aims to connect better with barbers around the world.

The Panasonic THE BARIKAN ER-XT70 T-Shaped Trimmer will be available in Malaysia starting from 15 July 2026, with a suggested price of RM699. It will have a stylish gold finish.
