Maxis, Astro, Bumi Armada, and MEASAT donate RM5 million to Dana Ihsan MADANI for flood relief efforts

Maxis, Astro, Bumi Armada and MEASAT have announced a total donation of RM5 million to the Government’s Dana Ihsan MADANI to help with flood relief and recovery efforts.

The donation was presented to Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, by various leaders from the companies: Tunku Ali Redhauddin Ibni Tuanku Muhriz from Astro, Raja Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Arshad bin Raja Tun Uda from Bumi Armada, Dato’ Hamidah Naziadin from MEASAT, and Goh Seow Eng from Maxis.

Maxis gave RM2 million, while Astro, Bumi Armada, and MEASAT each contributed RM1 million. This money will help flood victims, especially in the East Coast area, which was heavily affected by recent floods.

Each company is also helping affected communities through various efforts.

Maxis has provided 4,000 free mobile SIM cards and top-ups at relief centers and has given essential supplies to 1,000 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) students impacted by the floods. Besides this, Maxis works with authorities on flood warnings and response plans.

Maxis and MEASAT are focused on ensuring reliable connectivity in flooded areas by offering free WiFi and mobile service at relief centers and for rescue operations. This helps affected families stay connected and assists relief teams in coordinating their efforts. Astro has been active in supporting communities hit by the floods through the Yayasan Astro Kasih Relief Fund. They collected public donations to aid those in need. Astro Radio’s Kami Care Misi Banjir Donation Drive gathered essential items like dry foods and household supplies. Flood victims could also get free replacements for their Astro Boxes. Astro staff volunteered to help with clean-up and recovery, while Astro’s platforms raised awareness and provided real-time update on the floods.
