BIG CARING Group has improved its pharmacists’ skills in dealing with atopic eczema with a total of 625 pharmacists from BIG Pharmacy, CARiNG Pharmacy, Georgetown Pharmacy, Wellings Pharmacy, and Ting Pharmacy are now certified as Atopic Eczema Counsellors. This achievement is recognized by the Malaysia Book of Records as the “Most Pharmacists Certified as Atopic Eczema Counsellors.”

This initiative comes as eczema is a common issue for many Malaysians, especially children. The Dermatological Society of Malaysia reports that over 20% of Malaysian children have eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis. Besides the visible signs, flare-ups can lead to severe itching, pain, and discomfort, impacting daily life, school, work, and emotional health. For some individuals, eczema can be a lifelong problem.

That is why our pharmacists are such an important part of this journey. We want to play a leading role in sensitive skin management, while making trusted advice and support easier for Malaysians to access through their community pharmacies.”
“We launched CARiNG Pharmacy’s Bye Bye Sensitive Skin initiative in April last year to make sensitive skin and eczema care education and support more accessible to Malaysians. Since then, we have seen nearly 20% growth in sales of sensitive skin and eczema-related products within a year. This shows us that this is an area that matters to our customers, and reinforces the importance of continuing to invest in education, pharmacist capability and accessible support,” added Chong.
The certified pharmacists received special training created with Persatuan Ekzema Malaysia and the Malaysian Pharmacists Society (MPS). This training improved their understanding of atopic eczema and helped them support customers looking for advice on eczema and sensitive skin care.
CARiNG Pharmacy’s Glow the Extra Mile builds on its Bye Bye Sensitive Skin program, educating consumers about sensitive skin care and eczema during a six-day health and beauty roadshow. This event will be held from 29 September to 4 October 2026 at 1 Utama Shopping Centre, Ground Floor Centre Court, Old Wing. The roadshow will include expert sessions, pharmacist engagement, product experiences, and fun activities for visitors.
One major highlight of the roadshow is Dr Amanda Elli, known as Dr Unicorn, who joined as the ambassador for Bye Bye Sensitive Skin. She co-hosted a Skin SOS Box session with pharmacist Gan Tzyh Ying, who is CARiNG Pharmacy’s Certified Atopic Eczema Counsellor. They addressed skin-related questions from the public.
The roadshow will also offer “Meet the Experts in Eczema Care” sessions featuring Dr Amir Hamzah Abdul Latiff, a Consultant Clinical Immunologist/Allergist & Paediatrician; Prof. Dr Lai Oi Ming, an advisor for the Malaysia Eczema Support Community (MESC); and Dr Raiwathy Krishnasamy, a Consultant Paediatrician.
Visitors can enjoy gifts with a minimum purchase, which are available in limited quantities each day. There will also be various interactive activities, including daily games, a photo booth, a Skin Survey Board, kid-friendly activities, and an Esmeria Aromatherapy Workshop.
