
PROTON has announced that bookings for the 2026 PROTON X50 Sport Edition (SE) are now opened as the brand celebrate the model’s sixth anniversary in Malaysia. The new SE variant is based on the flagship variant while received 15 exclusive exterior and interior enhancements for a bolder and sportier appeal.



Its exterior is mostly black, with bright red details that make it look sporty. Key features include the Black Front Upper Garnish, Black Front Side Port Trim Garnish, Black Lower Bumper Garnish, and Black Rear Side Port Trim Garnish, along with Black 18-inch Alloy Wheels.
The SE also has special front, side, and rear skirts, giving it a more energetic look, while the unique Sport Edition emblem adds to its exterior style.



Inside, the sporty feel continues with a black interior highlighted by red stitching on the steering wheel and seats. The front seats have Sport Edition embroidery, and the floor showcases Sport Edition details, paired with TPE floor mats for a unique touch. These TPE floor mats are designed for everyday Malaysian conditions; they’re lightweight, flexible, and quick-drying, making them perfect for Malaysia’s rainy and humid weather.
The 2026 PROTON X50 SE has been improved not just for a striking look but also to handle everyday use in Malaysia. The SE parts have been carefully tested for strength and fit for local driving conditions. Over 13,700 hours of testing have focused on durability, resistance to rust and UV rays, and how well the car stands up to Malaysia’s weather. These tests check if the parts can handle daily driving and the country’s tropical climate.
As the SE is based on the X50 flagship variant, its still largely retains the same performance, with PROTON’s i-GT 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine, paired with a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), delivering 181 PS and 290 Nm of torque. It also can sprint from still to the century in 7.6 seconds and fuel consumption of 6.1L/100km.
The SE also continues to offer a connected driving experience with a 14.6-inch Infotainment Head Unit, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, PROTON Link 2.0 and ‘Hi PROTON’ Voice Command in Bahasa Melayu and English.
For safety, the car also retains the 15 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features including Auto Park Assist (APA), a 360° HD Camera with 180° Transparent View and other intelligent safety functions.
Bookings for the 2026 PROTON X50 SE are now open at all authorised PROTON dealers nationwide. However, at the time of writing, there is no official pricing announced so stay tuned.
