PROTON has launched the 2026 PROTON S70 i-GT 1.5 in Sabah after its debut in Peninsular Malaysia on 22 September 2026. The event took place at City Mall, Kota Kinabalu, as part of a three-day roadshow from 2 to 4 October 2026, allowing customers, media, and the Sabah community to see the new S70 model.
Sabah is a key market for PROTON, showing significant growth since 2018, with sales rising from 3,427 units to 10,499 units by 2026, a 206.4% increase, and market share increasing from 5% to 10%. This growth indicates growing customer confidence in the brand and emphasizes PROTON’s commitment to enhancing its presence and support in Sabah.

The 2026 PROTON S70 i-GT 1.5 is a competitive sedan priced from RM58,800 in East Malaysia, offering spacious cabin comfort and safety. Available in Lite and Prime variants, it features a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated i-GT engine with a CVT and torque converter for smooth driving, along with three driving modes. Key highlights include:
- Space and Comfort: Leading dimensions in its segment, accommodating three rear passengers with a nearly flat floor and a soft-touch instrument panel standard in both variants.
- Convenience and Connectivity: Features such as an Electric Parking Brake with Auto Brake Hold, Key Remote Engine Start, and one-touch windows. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be available starting October 2026.
- Safety: Equipped with a five-function Rear Side Radar System, including Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, alongside a standard Reverse Camera and Rear Seat Reminder.
