Yorushika’s “Sunny” is the opening theme song for Frieren :Beyond Journey’s End Season 2

Yorushika’s latest song “Sunny” has been confirmed as the opening theme for Season 2 of the TV anime series “Frieren :Beyond Journey’s End,” which will start airing on 5 January 2024.

“Sunny” is slated to be release on the same day as it expresses the sunny scene and clear sky reflected in the eyes, much different from the previous nighttime image of Yorushika.

Based on the manga series of the same title written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Abetsukasa, running on “Weekly Shonen Sunday,” “Frieren” is a ‘sequel fantasy’ that depicts the adventures of a group of heroes who have defeated a demon king.  The story follows the adventures of the elven mage Frieren living for more than a thousand years and her new friends in the world after the hero’s death.  It is a popular work that won the Grand Prize in the “Manga Grand Prize 2021,” and its comics have sold more than 17 million copies to date.

Following the first episode on 29 September 2023, which was a 2-hour special on NTV’s “Friday Road Show,” the TV anime series is broadcasting every Friday at 11:00pm on “Friday Anime Night” NTV’s nationwide network of 30 stations.

About the new song “Sunny,” n-buna of Yorushika says, “This song is about sunny weather.  To be more precise, it’s about wishing for sunshine from a not-so-sunny state.  I hope this song helps decorate the world of Frieren and their journey.”

In addition, a promotional video of “Frieren :Beyond Journey’s End” [First Class Wizard Examination] is available on TOHO animation’s YouTube where a snippet of “Sunny” can be heard.
