Xiaomi recently announced its collaboration with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Malaysia, as part of its global Xiaomi Education initiative. Highlighting the innovative camera technology, co-engineered with Leica, through the brand’s recent Xiaomi 13T Series, students from UiTM’s Department of Creative Photomedia participated in a learning experience through mobile photography.
During the course of the Xiaomi Education initiative, Xiaomi collaborated with UiTM through a series of hands-on experiential activities. Firstly, Xiaomi along with local Photojournalist and Leica Photographer in Malaysia, Mr. Sadiq Asyraf, conducted an exclusive Masterclass for the students. Sharing his experience as a photojournalist and photographer, Sadiq shared invaluable insights, tips, and tricks on photography and mobile photography.
Through the initiative, Xiaomi also worked with UiTM’s Department of Creative Photomedia to develop an assignment on mobile photography, with the theme, ‘Celebrating the Essence of Malaysia: Exploring Cultural Diversity and Individual Stories Through Environmental Portraiture’, utilizing the camera technology of Xiaomi 13T Series. The assignment contributed to part of the participating students’ course. Capturing amazing portraits, and combining it with heartfelt storytelling, the students showcased their works through a photography exhibition. Additionally, the top 3 students selected with the best photographs were awarded prizes courtesy of Xiaomi Malaysia.
In total, the collaboration between Xiaomi Malaysia and UiTM amounted to a value of RM 65,000 in industrial grant.

The outcomes were nothing short of remarkable, with each image a testament to both the students’ creative prowess and the capabilities of mobile photography. This collaboration underscored the notion that exceptional imagery isn’t solely confined to high-end equipment but instead emphasizes the role of accessible tools, like Xiaomi smartphones, in nurturing creative expression. By embracing these tools, educational institutes can empower students to navigate the artistry of photography without financial barriers and limitations, fostering a deeper connection between technology, creativity, and education.”
