Yeo’s has officially launched its first-ever canned Teriyaki Tuna in Malaysia with “Yeo’s Itadakimasu – Tuna with a Twist”, bringing the taste, culture and spirit of Japan to the heart of Bukit Bintang through a vibrant Japanese-inspired experience.

Yeo’s has been committed to developing new innovations and is expanding beyond local flavors with Yeo’s Teriyaki Tuna, which features tender tuna in a sweet and savory teriyaki sauce. Together with Yeo’s Chilli Spicy Tuna, consumers can now enjoy a fresh and exciting take on a pantry staple.
“Yeo’s has always been driven by a spirit of innovation, evolving with the tastes and lifestyles of consumers while staying true to our heritage. From being among the first in Malaysia to introduce canned curry chicken to the familiar flavours Malaysians have grown up with, we continue to explore new flavour inspirations from around the world, bringing fresh and relevant choices to the table. With Yeo’s Teriyaki Tuna, we are taking this journey a step further by introducing a Japanese-inspired flavour that brings a contemporary twist to a familiar pantry staple, creating new possibilities for families and younger generations to enjoy Yeo’s in ways that fit today’s tastes,” said Tan Mei Yen, Yeo’s Country General Manager.
The introduction of tuna highlights its nutritional value and familiarity for Malaysian consumers. A study in Food & Nutrition Research found that tuna is the fourth most commonly eaten marine fish in Peninsular Malaysia. Additionally, Malaysia’s Fisheries Department reported that 431,000kg of tuna worth RM7.76 million were brought into Penang in 2024, more than double the amount from 2023, showing the state’s growing importance in the tuna industry. These findings emphasize tuna’s ongoing relevance in Malaysia and its established role in the local seafood market. As consumers seek convenient and tasty food options for a balanced diet, Yeo’s is introducing Yeo’s Teriyaki Tuna, which adds a Japanese twist to a familiar staple.
“We know that Malaysians appreciate food that is convenient, versatile and full of flavour. With Yeo’s Teriyaki Tuna, consumers can enjoy the savoury taste of teriyaki in a format that is easy to incorporate into everyday meals, whether enjoyed on its own, paired with rice or noodles, or used to create their own dishes. Beyond introducing a new flavour, Yeo’s Teriyaki Tuna is also high in protein and a source of Omega-3, offering nutritional benefits that complement today’s growing interest in more balanced and mindful food choices. We are excited to bring this new flavour to Malaysians and let them discover their own favourite way to enjoy it,” added Tan Mei Yen.
The launch featured “Yeo’s Itadakimasu – Tuna with a Twist”, a Japanese-themed roadshow held from 2–4 October 2026 at The Starhill Ground Floor Piazza, Bukit Bintang. Visitors had fun with activities like tasting Yeo’s Teriyaki Tuna, a stamp-collecting adventure, a Japan-themed photo booth, a Gashapon game, and a Cosplay Competition. Prizes included Yeo’s products, Touch ‘n Go reloads, onsen vouchers, and a flight ticket to Japan.
Adding to the fun, Yeo’s brought a piece of Japan to Bukit Bintang with a surprise event inspired by Tokyo’s famous Shibuya Crossing. The team, dressed in kimonos and traditional Japanese clothes, created special moments for the public.
The excitement continues with the “Yeo’s To Japan Contest – Win Tickets to Japan”, which runs from 1 October to 30 November 2026.
