Viu has announced the premiere of its latest Viu Original series, Viu Original Walid (Heaven’s Reign). This is a gripping religious thriller that explores the difference between devotion and deception. Following the huge success of Bidaah last year, the 12-episode series will premiere exclusively on Viu starting February 26, 2026.
The series is produced by Rumah Karya Citra and brings together creator and screenwriter Erma Fatima and director Pali Yahya, known for their work on Bidaah.
Walid follows Walid (Faizal Hussein), a former leader of the Jihad Ummah heresy, who escapes capture and hides in the mountains to rebuild his influence. His alliance with Habiburrahman (Aqasha), a charismatic preacher who hides his evil ambitions, soon turns into a silent battle as the two men compete for control of trust, loyalty and power.
Caught in the middle of this conflict are Ummi Hafizah (Marisa Yasmin), Walid’s ex-wife who is determined to restore the true faith to his followers, and Ustaz Fateh (Dato’ A. Tamimi Siregar), Walid’s former mentor who returns from Cairo in a last-ditch effort to save his wayward student. Their journeys reveal the fine line between obedience and deceit, leading to a dramatic confrontation between ego, repentance and redemption.
The series is led by Faizal Hussein as Walid, alongside Aqasha as Habiburrahman and veteran Malaysian actor, Dato’ A. Tamimi Siregar as Ustaz Fateh. This stellar cast also features Indonesian stars, Olla Ramlan as Raras Kartika, Marisa Yasmin as Ummi Hafizah and Vanidah Imran as Ummi Rabiatul.
