It was recently announced via Facebook Livestream it is mandatory to use the latest version of the app when applying for the permission to travel inter-state.

Gerak Malaysia application is a collaboration between the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) to facilitate movement management and control of the PKPB. In addition, it also helps the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) in the pursuit of contact detection for COVID-19.
