
TP-Link has officially launched Wi-Fi 8 in Malaysia at the recent TP-Link APAC B2B Summit 2026, held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre under the theme “Together We Connect the Future”.


The Summit saw the brand showcased the Archer 8 Ultra router and Deco 8 Ultra mesh Wi-Fi system, while offering a first look at its forthcoming Omada Wi-Fi 8 platform for the business networking segment.

“For years, wireless technology has been sold on speed. But speed means little if a connection drops mid-meeting or a cloud application stalls at the worst possible moment,” said Mr Brian Dong, Vice President of TP-Link Asia-Pacific.
“As Malaysian organisations bring more AI and cloud-based systems into daily operations, reliability becomes the real currency of digital transformation. This launch reflects TP-Link’s commitment to giving Malaysian businesses and households a network foundation they can look forward to building on with confidence.”
Built on the upcoming IEEE 802.11bn standard, Wi-Fi 8 is built around what TP-Link calls its Wi-Fi 8 StabilityEngine. This system aims to improve coverage, manage traffic, and reduce interference, ensuring that connections remain steady even with many devices using the same network.
This development aligns with Malaysia’s digital economy goals. The government recently launched the Malaysia Digital 2030 (MD2030) action plan, which aims for a 30% contribution from the digital economy to GDP and 500,000 high-value digital jobs by the end of the decade. The information and communication sector alone received RM152.9 billion in approved investments in 2025, mainly in AI, data centres, and cloud computing. In this context, unreliable Wi-Fi is more than just a minor issue; it disrupts video calls, slows down access to cloud services, and affects productivity and customer satisfaction in places like hospitals, hotels, and busy retail areas.
Once commercially available, Wi-Fi 8 is expected to deliver steadier coverage across large, crowded or multi-floor premises, stronger connections for devices further from an access point, and better performance during peak traffic. For Malaysian organisations, this points towards smoother video conferencing in offices and university campuses, fewer service interruptions in hotels and retail outlets, more dependable connectivity in hospitals, and steadier performance on factory floors as manufacturers push ahead with Industry 4.0 adoption – with the same reliability-first thinking expected to carry over into Malaysian homes juggling multiple smartphones, smart televisions, and smart-home devices on one network.
Beyond Wi-Fi 8, TP-Link is also broadening its focus to combine network and security management with its new Fusion Pro Series. This series will help businesses manage both networking and surveillance from one platform.
As networking and surveillance work together, TP-Link is exploring how AI can improve these connected systems. The company announced plans to create the Omada-VIGI AI Application Developer Alliance. This alliance will connect AI companies, independent developers, and technology partners to merge TP-Link’s networking and surveillance tools with AI applications. The aim is to make it easier to use AI in everyday places like smart classrooms, stores, factories, and hotels, while maintaining the reliability seen in Wi-Fi 8.
TP-Link is also focusing on developing local talent to meet Malaysia’s growing need for networking skills. The company has signed agreements with three universities in Malaysia to offer Omada networking courses and practical training, helping to enhance skills for more connected and AI-driven environments.
