Tame Impala drops 5th Album titled, “Deadbeat”

Tame Impala (Kevin Parker) has released his latest full-length album, Deadbeat via Columbia Records.  Tame Impala teased the release of Deadbeat with three advance singles, “Loser,” “End of Summer, and “Dracula” which broke into Billboard’s Hot 100 and saw an instant chart debut at AAA and Alternative – his biggest debuts yet.

He also recently released a music video for the album opener “My Old Ways,” directed by Kristofski and featuring cinéma vérité footage the director took throughout the process of Parker making the record in various locations around the world.

On Deadbeat, Parker creates a collection of strong club-psych tracks that showcase his most catchy songwriting yet. The album draws heavily from Australian bush doof culture, especially the local scene around Margaret River in the 90s, transforming Tame Impala into a future primitive rave act.

“In the past 15 years, arguably no other rock musician has straddled multiple worlds quite as well as Parker,” says critic Grayson Haver Currin in his GQ Hype cover story. “Tame Impala began as a modernized psych-rock band with exploding-world drums and skyscraping hooks that made it clear Parker also loved pop, soul, and hip-hop. As Tame Impala has steadily morphed into something stranger and self-renewing, where spoken-word stories about picking up laundry led to late-night confessionals, Parker has become a key collaborator to some of the biggest stars in the world. Deadbeat feels like a last act of resignation and acceptance, with Parker finally coming to terms with the person he has always been and may always be. He is suspended in an emotional stalemate, wondering if he can be more than he knows he is.”

Conceived in various locations over recent years, the album was largely developed between Parker’s hometown of Fremantle and his studio, Wave House in Injidup, Western Australia, in the first half of 2025. Deadbeat showcases an artist with elevated mastery, embracing spontaneity while maintaining distinct minimalism and crunch, adding new dimensions to the sound alongside a richer, more playful vocal range.

Tame Impala will start his first tour for Deadbeat on October 27 with four shows at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. The tour ends on November 17 with three performances at The Kia Forum in Los Angeles. A major UK and EU tour is also planned for spring 2026. All tour dates and ticket information are available here.

Kevin Parker has emerged as one of the most influential voices of the last decade.
