Tabu is confirmed to join the cast of the Max Original drama series Dune: Prophecy, playing the role as Sister Francesca.
Sister Francesca will deliver a strong, intelligent, and alluring character in the series. Once a great love of the Emperor, her return to the palace strains the balance of power in the capital.The series follows two Harkonnen sisters as they fight against forces that threaten humankind’s future and establish the Bene Gesserit sect.
Set within the Dune universe, created by Frank Herbert, the series follows the Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten humankind’s future. Tabu is one of India’s biggest stars, having won the National Film Award for Best Actress twice and received eight Filmfare Awards, including a record four Critics Awards for Best Actress. She was awarded the Padma Shri by the Indian government, akin to being knighted. Tabu has also appeared in the critically acclaimed BBC miniseries A Suitable Boy, Ang Lee’s Life of Pi for Fox 2000, and The Namesake for Fox Searchlight.
The cast includes Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Johdi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, and Shalom Brune-Franklin. The series is co-produced by Max and Legendary Television, with Legendary also producing the film franchise that has released two installments to critical acclaim, the first of which garnered six Academy Awards.
