Sony has recently launched the ZV-E10 II, the second gen of the ZV-E10 camera series, part of the brand’s ZV content creation camera series. The ZV-E10 is an APS-C camera designed for content creators of all levels, offering ease of use in a compact and versatile tool. The ZV-E10 II retains all the loved features of the original such as Creative Looks, Product Showcase Setting, Background Defocus function, and a vari-angle flip screen, while adding upgrades for increased sophistication and ease of use.
What’s new for the ZV-E10 II is the upgraded 26MP Exmor R CMOS sensor and Sony’s latest BIONZ XR image processing engine, enhancing autofocus and video capturing capabilities. There are also new features including Cinematic Vlog Setting, a new vertical format UI, an upgraded large-capacity Sony Z battery for improved stamina, and enhanced connectivity for easy live streaming and data transfer. The ZV-E10 II is compact and lightweight, weighing approximately 377 grams.
Additionally, Sony has announced the E PZ 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS II, a compact APS-C power zoom lens that can be purchased separately or as part of the ZV-E10 II’s lens kit. This upgraded kit lens offers improved autofocus and video performance compared to the first-generation model. It offers smooth, useful power zoom is ideal for movie shooting, and AF is available even while zooming. With the built-in optical stabilisation works with in-body stabilisation, including Active Mode, able to minimise blur in movies. The E PZ 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS II supports in-body breathing compensation to minimise shifts in angle of view while focusing for smooth, stable footage.
The ZV-E10 II’s Creative Looks and Cinematic Vlog Setting functions is set to help creators produce premium-looking content straight from the camera.
The Creative Looks feature allows users to enhance their images by choosing from ten preset options, with the ability to further customize them through eight different parameters. Creative Look 10 options are Standard (ST), Portrait (PT), Neutral (NT), Vivid (VV), Vivid 2 (VV2), Film (FL), Instant (IN), Soft Highkey (SH), Black & White (BW), and Sepia (SE).
The Cinematic Vlog Setting enables creators to capture cinematic video with optimal settings automatically adjusted for aspect ratio, frame rate, and AF transition speed. Additionally, users can apply five “Looks” such as S-Cinetone that enhances skin tones, and applying one of four “Moods”, that emphasise specific colours, offering extensive options to maximise creative expression.
The Backside illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor is capable to deliver an ideal combination of high sensitivity and low noise with an ISO range from 100 to 32000. The APS-C interchangeable lens camera is compatible with over 70 Sony E-mount lenses, ready for users to upgrade their lens at anytime, anywhere. The ZV-E10 II offers a high-speed readout, 5.6K oversampling compresses a vast amount of information into stunning 4K footage at up to 60 fps.
Key specifications of the ZV-E10 II include 759-point focal plane phase-detection autofocus with real-time eye AF for human/animal/bird subjects, an APS-C interchangeable lens system, high-speed readout for stunning 4K footage, and upgraded electronic image stabilization for shake-free videos. The camera also features an upgraded large-capacity Z battery for longer recording sessions and a variety of additional features to streamline content creation, such as a new vertical user interface, product showcase setting, and background defocus function.
