Sony WH-1000XM6 arriving in Malaysia in June 2025 as pre-order happening now until 8 June 2025

Sony has unveiled the WH-1000XM6 wireless noise-cancelling headphones, the latest in its award-winning 1000X series. This model enhances audio quality and noise cancellation in a sleek design, appealing to music lovers, fashion enthusiasts, travelers, and professionals.

The next evolution in noise cancellation

Powered by an advanced processor and adaptive microphone system, noise cancelling on the WH-1000XM6 is optimised in real time, keeping your world undisturbed and sound pure. With speeds seven times faster than its predecessor, the HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3 fine-tunes 12 microphones—1.5 times more than the WH-1000XM5—delivering improved noise cancelling and sound quality. The precise detection by these microphones adapts to your environment, ensuring a seamless and powerful sound experience whether commuting or working.

Sony’s Adaptive NC Optimiser offers unmatched noise cancelling precision, adjusting to external noise and air pressure, while its specially designed driver unit enhances cancellation. Auto Ambient Sound mode adapts to your surroundings, balancing music and external sounds. Microphones filter noise or allow in important sounds like announcements and conversations. Adjust settings automatically or manually in the Sony | Sound Connect app.

Sony also collaborated with top mastering engineers at Sterling Sound, Battery Studios, and Coast Mastering to refine every note for studio-level accuracy on the WH-1000XM6

Developed in collaboration with Sterling Sound, Battery Studios and Coast Mastering

The collaborative team of Grammy-winning and Grammy-nominated engineers includes Randy Merrill (Sterling Sound), who has worked with Ed Sheeran; Chris Gehringer (Sterling Sound), known for Rihanna and Lady Gaga; Mike Piacentini (Battery Studios), who has mastered tracks for Bob Dylan; and Michael Romanowski (Coast Mastering), whose portfolio includes Alicia Keys and the Star Wars soundtracks.

Randy Merrill, mastering engineer from Sterling Studio, who has worked with music icons such as Taylor Swift and Adele was part of the co-creation of the headphones. Randy praises the headphones sound expression and said: “Sony has always been a benchmark for premium quality, and the WH-1000XM6 headphones take it to a new level. They transport me to a different world with their excellent bass, frequency response, soundstage and detail. They truthfully represent the sounds of the recordings that we work so hard to make.”

Mike Piacentini from Battery Studios who has worked alongside Depeche Mode and James Brown said: “We, as mastering engineers, spend a lot of time with the artists and producers to make their vision sound as intended. With the WH-1000XM6, listeners will have a more enjoyable experience because they’re hearing every emotion, engineering decision and songwriting choice that the artist and engineer have made.”

The WH-1000XM6 are engineered to perfection with the specially designed driver unit delivering clarity that feels almost tangible, and every detail comes through with precision.

The high rigidity carbon fibre composite material dome and advanced voice coil structure enhance frequency detail, enriching vocals and defining instruments for a more emotive sound experience.

The HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3 utilizes a look-ahead noise shaper for better D/A conversion, allowing the WH-1000XM6 to optimize quantisation noise and respond swiftly to sound changes, resulting in clearer details and natural bass.

The WH-1000XM6 headphones support High-Resolution Audio and High-Resolution Audio Wireless using LDAC, which is Sony’s widely used audio coding technology. It also use Edge-AI and DSEE Extreme to improve compressed digital music files in real time, bringing back the higher sound quality lost during compression.

The Sony | Sound Connect app makes it easy to adjust your listening experience with the WH-1000XM6. While listening to music, you can use the 10-band EQ to customize the sound or add a more spacious feel with the Background Music Effect. Gamers can benefit from the Game EQ, designed with Sony’s expertise to boost sound quality for first-person shooter games. If you’re watching movies, the WH-1000XM6 features 360 Reality Audio Upmix for Cinema, which creates a surround sound experience similar to being in a movie theater from standard stereo sound using Sony’s unique upmix and 360 Spatial Sound technology.

The WH-1000XM6 provides clear call clarity with intelligent beamforming that isolates your voice from background noise. You can easily mute the microphone with a button on the headphones. Its advanced six-microphone AI-based system focuses on your voice, ensuring crystal clear communication even in noisy environments. The AI-optimised noise reduction algorithm suppresses background sound while isolating your voice, ensuring every word is heard clearly.

The iconic design of the WH-1000X series features a soft, wider headband made with vegan leather for a comfortable fit. The asymmetrical design helps easily identify the left and right sides. The earpads use stretchable material for secure, gentle wear that minimizes pressure and blocks external noise. Intuitive controls allow you to switch between noise cancelling, ambient sound, and mic mute with tactile buttons and a touch panel.

Inspired by handcrafted precision, the WH-1000XM6 features a durable folding mechanism made with advanced metal injection, designed for easy storage in bags and airplane pockets. The compact case has a magnetic closure for convenience.

With WH-1000XM6, enjoy Scene-based Listening that adapts music playback and noise cancellation to your activity and environment. Connect effortlessly to top music services like Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube Music.

The WH-1000XM6 supports LE Audio for low-latency gaming and broadcasts with Auracast, ensuring exceptional sound quality. Multi-Point and Auto Switch allow seamless device switching.

Sony now also allows listen while charging with a USB cable for the XM6. Alternatively, you can take advantage of quick charging—just three minutes gives you up to three hours of playback.

Sony partners with 9x Diamond-certified, GRAMMY Award-nominated global icon Post Malone for its “For The Music” audio brand campaign. As a highly influential and genre-defying artist, Post Malone embodies the spirit of authenticity and creativity central to Sony’s audio innovation.

“Great sound is essential for me when I’m making and listening to music,” said Post Malone. “These new noise cancelling headphones make you feel completely inside the music.” As part of the campaign, Post Malone worked alongside Sony’s team to create a series of ads that showcase how Sony’s audio technology transforms the listening experience, making fans feel like they’re sharing a moment with the artist in real-time.

Sony has designed these headphones with the environment in mind. The WH-1000XM6 packaging is made from 100% paper materials, advancing the use of Sony’s Original Blended Material—an eco-friendly paper made from bamboo, sugarcane fibres, and recycled paper—for our flagship 1000X series headphones.
