Sony Malaysia is currently running the “Nature in Focus” Photography Contest, inviting local photography enthusiasts to capture the beauty of nature for global platforms like the Sony World Photography Awards (SWPA).
Open to Malaysian residents, the contest runs from 27 April to 31 July 2026, featuring three categories – Wildlife, Macro, and Landscape – aimed at inspiring creativity and storytelling through visuals.

There are two participation categories—one for images taken with Sony cameras, and another that allows images from any camera system. This shows Sony’s commitment to creating an inclusive photography community where everyone can join and share their work.
Contest participants can win various Sony imaging products, including high-quality lenses and accessories, to further support their creative efforts.
“Nature in Focus” serves as a stepping stone within Sony’s imaging ecosystem, giving photographers a chance to improve their skills locally, build confidence, and gain exposure, helping them move towards internationally recognized competitions like the Sony World Photography Awards (SWPA).
The SWPA is one of the top photography competitions worldwide, celebrating excellent work in many genres and receiving entries from photographers around the globe. By joining events like “Nature in Focus,” photographers in Malaysia can build their portfolios, gain recognition, and start competing on an international level.
To support these creators, Sony Malaysia invests in numerous initiatives to develop talent and enhance creativity. Through its Sony Workshops platform, participants can join hands-on sessions, masterclasses, and guided experiences with industry professionals. These workshops provide great opportunities to improve technical skills, explore new creative ideas, and learn about professional workflows. In addition, Sony Malaysia is strengthening its commitment at the grassroots level through strategic collaborations with universities and colleges. This includes partnerships formalised through Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with institutions such as Sunway University, reflecting Sony’s dedication to nurture emerging talent from an early stage.
Through these collaborations, Sony engages students via career days, open days, society-led activities, internships, and hands-on workshops, providing meaningful exposure to real-world industry practices, advanced imaging technology, and creative storytelling. Collectively, the initiatives aim to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations, supporting the development of future-ready creators.
Together, these efforts form part of Sony’s holistic approach to empower the creative community—from grassroots engagement to global recognition.
