Signature International Berhad (“Signature”) has launched a unique 2-in-1 Dual Food Distribution Kitchen & Empowerment Centre in collaboration with Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK). This new facility, located at KSK’s Jalan Imbi centre, combines food distribution services with community support.
The initiative shows Signature’s commitment to making a positive social impact using its years of expertise. For over 30 years, Signature has focused on creating functional living spaces, and this project allows them to apply their design, manufacturing, installation, and project management skills to assist KSK.

Through its Signature Cares platform, the company goes beyond home improvement to support the community. They worked closely with KSK to redesign the Jalan Imbi centre to meet operational needs and accommodate future empowerment programs.
For nearly 20 years, KSK’s Jalan Imbi centre has been a crucial community hub, offering meals, welfare support, and hope to those in need. As the organization grew, so did the demand for a facility that could efficiently distribute food and run programs that teach practical skills.
With over 30 years of experience as Malaysia’s top provider of Total Home & Living Solutions, Signature completely revamped the centre to enhance workflow, functionality, and the experience for volunteers, staff, and those they help.
Central to this redesign is the 2-in-1 Dual Food Distribution Kitchen & Empowerment Centre. This innovative space serves two main purposes: it efficiently prepares and distributes meals to those in need and also functions as an empowerment centre that offers cooking, baking, and skills development programs. These programs aim to help participants gain confidence and skills for long-term independence.
The flexible design allows KSK to utilize the space throughout the day, addressing immediate community needs while also facilitating long-term empowerment initiatives.
Signature Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr Lau Kock Sang, said the project demonstrates how businesses can create meaningful change by applying what they know best.
“When we first visited Kechara Soup Kitchen’s Jalan Imbi centre, we saw an organisation that had been serving vulnerable Malaysians with unwavering dedication over 20 years. The question before us was never whether we should help, but how we could contribute in the most meaningful way using the expertise we have built over more than three decades.
“That belief sits at the heart of Signature Cares. Every business has capabilities that extend beyond its products or services. When those capabilities are applied to genuine community needs, they can create lasting value that goes far beyond a single project,” he said.
Kechara Soup Kitchen General Manager Mr Justin Cheah Kok Leong, said the revitalised facility represents an important milestone in the organisation’s continued efforts to serve vulnerable communities.
“This revitalised centre will allow us to prepare and distribute meals more efficiently while creating a dedicated environment for programmes that help beneficiaries build practical skills and confidence. It gives us greater flexibility to support immediate needs while investing in longer-term empowerment,” he added.

Signatorians contributed dry food items to support Kechara Soup Kitchen as part of Signature’s Food Bank Donation Initiative. The collected items aim to aid vulnerable communities. This collaboration initiates a long-term partnership between Signature and Kechara Soup Kitchen, with plans for future volunteer initiatives and community engagement under Signature Cares.
