Shell Recharge has launched the largest electric vehicle charging hub at Resorts World Genting in Malaysia, equipped with high-power 360kW charging facilities to cater to EV drivers. The hub, a result of a partnership between Shell Recharge, Porsche Malaysia, and Genting Malaysia Berhad, showcases a commitment to promoting e-mobility connectivity in the country.
Seow Lee Ming, General Manager of Shell Mobility Malaysia, highlighted the significance of this achievement, marking a milestone in expanding EV charging infrastructure. The hub includes 10 charging bays with 4 high-performance 360kW points and 6 22kW AC chargers. The completion of this hub follows the establishment of similar facilities in various locations across Malaysia.
In celebration of this milestone, Shell Recharge showcased the high-power charging capabilities by powering a Porsche Taycan convoy, emphasizing the convenience of 360kW charging for drivers visiting Resorts World Genting. Christopher Hunter, CEO of Sime Darby Auto Performance representing Porsche Malaysia, expressed excitement about enabling high-power charging in the country, especially for their latest Taycan model.
Additionally, Lee Ming announced plans to continue expanding high-performance charging infrastructure along the East Coast Expressway corridor. This commitment to providing fast, reliable, and convenient charging solutions reflects Shell Malaysia’s dedication to supporting the growth of e-mobility.
Spencer Lee, Senior VP of Genting Malaysia Berhad, emphasized the role of the Shell Recharge EV Charging Hub in enhancing the resort’s status as an EV-friendly destination. This initiative aligns with Resorts World Genting’s commitment to sustainability, exemplified by their upcoming Genting SustainBiz F&B Expo in 2024.
