Samsung Electronics has launched its new 990 SSD in 1TB and 2TB capacities. This balanced storage solution offers exceptional performance and power efficiency, optimized for gaming, creative tasks, and daily PC use.
With PCIe 4.0 support and new NAND technology, the Samsung 990 SSD 2TB model delivers super-fast read speeds of up to 7,250 megabytes per second (MB/s). The 1TB model can reach speeds of up to 7,150 MB/s. Both models offer write speeds of up to 6,450 MB/s, which means quick file transfers and less waiting time for loading.
For random performance, the 2TB model can handle up to 850,000 read and 1,200,000 write operations per second (IOPS), while the 1TB model manages up to 700,000 reads and 1,100,000 writes. This helps users open apps faster, enjoy smoother gameplay, and manage large tasks more efficiently.
The extra storage means users can keep a lot of high-quality content and the latest big games. The 2TB model can hold about 30 large games, assuming each is around 64GB. This makes it perfect for gamers and creators who deal with large files and applications.
The Samsung 990 SSD is also more power-efficient. Compared to the old 990 PRO model, it uses up to 38% less power while still delivering high performance.
Samsung Magician Software helps keep the SSDs, including the Samsung 990, running well. It allows for easy data transfers and checks on the drive’s health, ensuring better performance and data protection.
The Samsung 990 SSD will be available in Malaysia in 1TB and 2TB sizes starting late July 2026, priced at RM1,069.00 and RM2,111.00, respectively.
