Rolls-Royce has announced the new Spectre Series II, featuring important technical and creative improvements to its super-coupé.
The Spectre Series II has a new drivetrain for improved performance, with power now at 442 kW and torque at 1,015 Nm. In the Black Badge version, Infinity Mode boosts power to 500 kW, while Spirited Mode increases torque to 1,100 Nm. With the re-engineered battery cell technology on the Spectre Series II, driving distance is increased by 18% to 390 miles (WLTP) and charging times have been reduced by 14%.
Spectre has become a key offering in Rolls-Royce’s contemporary lineup, with clients often requesting over 20 bespoke features, second only to Phantom in demand. The Spectre Series II enhances bespoke options, providing new crafted elements and materials to meet clients’ desire for unique commissions.
The super-coupé’s fastback profile, clean surfacing, and split headlamp signature are retained for Spectre Series II, showcasing the marque’s confidence in this acclaimed design. Since its launch, Spectre has been praised as one of the most elegant automotive forms and now joins Phantom Coupé and other revered Goodwood-era models. Spectre’s timeless design has garnered numerous international accolades, celebrated by judging panels and embraced by clients as a modern masterpiece. A new solid exterior finish, Ethereal Blue, has been developed to accentuate Spectre’s form and surfacing.
The car now features new 23-inch forged alloy wheels with a multi-spoke design that reflects light beautifully. Each wheel is forged with sharp 2.5 mm edges, keeping their crisp appearance even after polishing. They are hand-finished for up to six hours to achieve this detail and come in two finishes: part-polished and fully polished.
Spectre Series II expands the interior palette with new materials and crafted details. Among them is Duality Twill, a contemporary rayon fabric made from bamboo, debuting in Spectre. This material draws inspiration from the bamboo grove in Le Jardin des Méditerranées on the Côte d’Azur, near Sir Henry Royce’s former winter home, Villa Mimosa.
The twill textile is embroidered with an artistic ‘Duality’ graphic. Based on an abstract interpretation of the two interlinked letter R initials of the marque’s founders, the design reflects a nautical influence, reminiscent of the interweaving rope lines found on sailing yachts – another subtle allusion to the French Riviera.
A Duality Twill interior on Spectre Series II incorporates up to 2.6 million stitches and 10 miles of thread, requiring 25 hours to construct. The textile is available in Lilac, Chocolate, Black, and the new Sage, a soft, luminous green. Clients can choose from over 50 colours of thread for embroidered elements that contrast with or complement the base layer.
Placed Perforation leather is available for Spectre Series II, featuring precision-cut patterns that showcase unique artworks. Inspired by moonlit clouds, it spans the shoulder and headrest areas of the seats, consisting of 78,138 perforations in sizes of 0.8 mm, 1.0 mm, and 1.2 mm. When extended to the illuminated door option, the pattern subtly disperses toward each light source, creating a soft diffusion effect akin to starlight through shifting night skies.
A distinctive high gloss Brindled Walnut veneer showcases a thoughtful material craft approach. Made from walnut sourced from non-fruiting trees and residual eucalyptus fibres, it features a unique ‘tiger stripe’ pattern. After being compressed and cut into veneer sheets, the finish is sealed with a lacquer infused with glass flakes, creating the illusion of shimmering particles suspended beneath the surface, which adds depth and movement.
The Interior Panel and Clock Gallery now span the entire width of the fascia, joined by a new Illuminated Fascia artwork. Its directional wave pattern is composed of 8,108 individual pixel-like illuminations that appear to flow across the surface, reinforcing Spectre Series II’s strong horizontal character. The design draws inspiration from the shifting mist that settles over the woodlands of the South Downs, which rise beyond the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood.
A new watch has been introduced, inspired by aviation instruments for clear readability. The dial has metal hands and a simple graphic style that matches the modern car design. The unique display also features an illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy figurine made from solid stainless steel.
Black Badge Spectre Series II
For the Black Badge Spectre Series II, design enhancements amplify its intense character.
The new Iced Black Exterior Detailing transforms nearly all brightwork to a matte finish, applied to the grille surround, sideframe finishers, bumper inserts, ‘Double R’ Badge of Honour surround, door handles, and the Spirit of Ecstasy. This refined, satin-like finish is achieved with a specially developed matte clear coat, while the vanes of the Pantheon Grille remain polished to preserve the car’s identity.
A new wheelset has been developed to enhance the visual character of Black Badge. The open-spoke design highlights the powerful braking hardware, while a polished outer ring accentuates the diameter of the seven-spoke structure. A subtle sparkle effect comes from fine glass flakes in the finish. This design is now also available in Iced Matte Black – a first for Black Badge wheels – created using a high-temperature curing process.
Spectre’s evolution for Series II affirms the motor car’s design integrity and engineering permanence. It emerges from a new era of commissioning shaped by deeper collaboration through the marque’s global Private Office network and a broader creative repertoire. It respects the instincts of those who recognized Spectre’s significance and offers new opportunities for expression to future commissioners.
