Rampas Cintaku Season 2 premiering on iQIYI 19 Jan 2024; Erra Fazira joins the cast

iQIYI has announced that Rampas Cintaku Season 2 is premiering exclusively on its platform on 19 January as the first of many local originals slated for 2024.

Continuing from the exploration of “sugar baby” and “sugar mummy” dynamics in season one, season two dives deeper, venturing beyond the initial desires and hunger. As the curtain rises on Datin Safieya’s (played by Fasha Sandha) life after Rizal’s (played by Afieq Shazwan) mysterious disappearance, she finds herself grappling with the complexities of long-distance relationships, battling the doubts of a marriage with an uncertain future, and navigating the treacherous waters of multiple suitors vying for her affection.

This season will see the return of familiar favourites including Zarynn Min, Puteri Balqis, Ady Mohammad, and Afieq Shazwan. On top of that, Rampas Cintaku Season 2 welcomes exciting new additions to the star-studded cast, including the iconic Erra Fazira, versatile Keith Foo, charismatic Lorenzo Irmann, and the charming Zamarul Hisham. Their presence adds a fresh layer of intrigue and unpredictability to the narrative, promising both unexpected alliances and heated confrontations.

But at the heart of season 2 lies the timeless question – when love is challenged by distance, deceit, and conflicting desires, how do we find the strength to hold onto ourselves and each other? This thought-provoking series delves into the profound bond between women, the vulnerabilities hidden behind facades of wealth and success, and the courage it takes to make life-altering decisions at the crossroads of love and ambition.

Rampas Cintaku Season 2 marks the first of 12 captivating local originals slated for release by iQIYI in Malaysia this year. This ambitious commitment to Malaysian storytelling underscores the platform’s dedication to amplifying local voices and enriching the global entertainment landscape.

iQIYI Country Manager for Malaysia and Singapore, Jony Deng said, “Rampas Cintaku was the first Malaysian original produced by iQIYI that made waves globally with over 100 million digital views in its season premiere. This year marks the dawn of a new era for Malaysian storytelling. With 12 original productions slated for release, including the highly anticipated Rampas Cintaku Season 2 as the first of many, iQIYI is fueling the local creative fire and propelling Malaysian stories to the global stage. As a testament to this, season 1 of Rampas Cintaku will be available for viewing in China from 19 January onwards, reaching more than 1.4 billion viewers. We are pushing boundaries, exploring new genres, and working with the best talents, be it with established veterans or propelling new voices to the scene, to deliver stories that resonate with every viewer.”

Working together once again with MIG Production for Rampas Cintaku Season 2, David Teo, CEO of MIG Production, said, “We are excited to work with iQIYI to bring the latest instalment of the very first local original drama produced for a global platform. MIG production always ensures to bring the best for audiences from across the country. Rampas Cintaku Season 2 presents a completely new storyline from the previous season. With season 1, we had the novel as a basis for the material, however this season goes beyond the sugar baby and sugar mummy narrative, and with that we had to write everything from scratch. There was a certain pressure to meet the expectations of its predecessor with this latest season but we knew replicating its achievements would be like following a familiar script, so we penned a bold new narrative, fueled by the pressure to surprise and the passion to evolve. We want the audiences to enjoy the evolution of Datin Safieya’s journey in love and family.”

Zebedee De Costa, Head of Original Content, iQIYI Malaysia said, “Rampas Cintaku Season 2 isn’t just a sizzling sequel, it’s a star-studded spectacle unlike any seen before in Malaysian drama. From veteran icons such as Erra Fazira, Keith Foo and Zamarul Hisham to the captivating energy of fresh faces such as Lorenzo Irmann, this season is a runway of raw talent taking flight. And the journey doesn’t stop at home. Rampas Cintaku makes history as the first ever Malay drama to grace the screens of China. This isn’t just a win for the show, it’s a giant leap for Malaysian storytelling. With iQIYI as our launchpad, we’re reaching a truly global audience in over 190 countries, breaking down barriers and amplifying Malaysian voices like never before.”

Rampas Cintaku Season 2 launches globally on iQIYI International (www.iq.com and apps) across 190+ territories on 19 January 2024.
