Inspired by Raya & The Last Dragon, the Southeast Asian multi-territorial track collaboration titled Trust Again is a monumental one for all involved. The ‘Trust Again’ MV official music video was premiered to the world on the night of 7th April at 8pm GMT+8. Presented and produced by Universal Music Group, in collaboration with Disney, the trilingual track revolves around the movie’s recurring theme of trust and is the first of its’ kind in the region. This significant milestone was the focal point of the regional press junket where more than 50 friends of the media gathered virtually.
Media hailing from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand & Philippines were delighted to ask the four artists – Raisa (Indonesia), Matthaios (Philippines), Yonnyboii (Malaysia) & SPRITE (Thailand) a vast array of questions. Ranging from what trusting again means to them on a personal level, to which element in their culture they are most proud of, to their favourite Disney character growing up. The entire 40 minutes was truly a celebration of the multitude of cultures constituting the diverse Southeast Asian region.
It was a striking, yet timely reminder that “music is borderless” and a universal language with the potential to transcend barriers.
The artists were evidently enthused to share their thoughts on being an integral part of this momentous project celebrating Disney’s “very first Southeast Asian princess”. Raisa, Matthaios, Yonnyboii & SPRITE also replied that they are looking forward to collaborate with more Southeast Asian artist in their upcoming projects.
In their own ways, each artist expressed pride in representing their home country in this regional collaboration project with Disney. Notably, the parts that stood out for each artist was the pride that radiated from the way they spoke about being involved in the entire creative process – conceptualizing the lyrics, to collaborating remotely to having the space to experiment with their vocals during the recording process, to finally seeing the project come to fruition. Ahead of the official music video set to premiere a, media partners were treated to an advance premiere of the music video where the response, albeit virtual, was especially heartening.
