Nothing OS 5.0 now officially rolling out for Nothing and CMF smartphones

Nothing has started to roll out Nothing OS 5.0, its largest software update so far. This update includes over 80 changes related to design, personalization, performance, and AI, built on the latest Android 17.

The update is available starting today for the Phone (3) and will be rolled out to more Nothing and CMF smartphones in the upcoming months.

Along with the updates from the Open Beta, the general release today adds new features and improvements:

  • Redesigned Home Screen – The new Home Screen design introduces transparent details across widgets and the search bar, alongside an adaptive colour system that draws from your wallpaper to create a more personal and cohesive look.
  • Micrographics clock face – A new hardware-inspired Lock Screen clock face brings together the date, time, weather and upcoming meetings at a glance.
  • Essential Space improvements – Further improvements to Essential Space will roll out via Google Play alongside the general release.

Previous updates from Nothing OS 5.0 open beta:

  • A sharper, refreshed design – Refreshed icons, spacing and animations across the status bar, Settings, Camera and Gallery, alongside the Geist typeface and more consistent visual details throughout the system.
  • More ways to make it yours – New widgets including Collector, which lets users create visual collections of their favourite objects, and Away Time, which tracks screen-free time. Home Screen editing has also been improved, allowing multiple apps and widgets to be moved at once.
  • Faster and smoother performance – Improved touch response, background app retention and system resource management, alongside refined animations across apps, folders, widgets and multitasking.
  • More useful Essential AI – Essential Voice brings faster, cleaner transcription; Essential Space introduces Smart Collections; and Essential Apps Builder is now available directly on your phone, letting users describe, build and deploy AI-powered apps without coding.
  • Built on Android 17 – Separate Notifications and Quick Settings panels, cross-platform Quick Share, enhanced privacy controls and a redesigned Recents screen bring the latest Android experience to Nothing OS.
