MG Motor Malaysia has officially previewed the 2025 MGS5 EV and announced that it is estimated to start at RM115,000 (before registration fees, without insurance). This B-segment electric SUV features rapid charging, spacious cabin, advanced driver assistance, engaging rear-wheel drive, and standard safety features.
“The MGS5 EV is the very first model we are introducing as part of a fresh new chapter for MG in Malaysia. It sets the standard for what drivers can expect from our brand, with best-in-class driving dynamics for this segment. Following its global debut in China last October, the MGS5 EV is purpose-built for Malaysian roads and marks a significant step forward in our electric journey,” said Emory Qifeng, Managing Director of SAIC Motor Malaysia.
MGS5 EV Best-In-Class Driving Dynamics
The MGS5 EV is designed for great handling, providing a fun and enjoyable driving experience. It offers two battery choices: a 49kWh battery with a 125kW motor that gives 170PS, 250Nm of torque, and a range of up to 340km (WLTP); or a 62.2kWh battery that provides up to 430km of range and 150kW for fast charging. Both options have excellent rear-wheel drive (RWD) for a lively drive.
In addition to its impressive handling, both versions come with 6.6kW AC charging, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.8-inch central control screen with voice control, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, and a full safety package that includes 7 airbags and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
For a more luxurious feel, the MGS5 EV with the 62kWh battery has additional comfort features like 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, seats made of a leather and fabric mix with a special design, a heated leather steering wheel, power-adjustable driver’s seat, 6 premium audio speakers, rear reading lights, rain-sensing wipers, and a 360-degree surround view camera.
The MGS5 EV comes in five colors: Arctic White, Monument Silver, Camden Grey, Dynamic Red, and Elegant Latte, featuring dark interior seats in leather and fabric.
