Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has recently launched the new Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series, where the spirit of a sporting icon is reimagined as a luxurious two-seater roadster. Catered for spirited drive with open-top experience, the model delivers the essence of Mercedes-Maybach with the combination of exceptional performance, aesthetic design, and unmistakable presence.
Exterior
The Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series Red Ambience features a two-tone paint of obsidian black metallic over MANUFAKTUR garnet red metallic. Alternatively, the White Ambience has obsidian black metallic contrasts with MANUFAKTUR opalite white magno. Both colors embody sensuality, beauty, and lightness, reflecting the philosophy and driving experience of the new model.
In keeping with the brand philosophy, the Mercedes-Maybach SL Monogram Series offers a holistic sensory experience. The chrome-finished radiator grille and integrated MAYBACH lettering are illuminated, complemented by a distinctive bonnet featuring an upright Mercedes star and a chromed fin. The obsidian black bonnet showcases the Maybach pattern in graphite grey uni, achieved through a complex process involving hand-sanding, printing, and multiple coats of clear matte lacquer, ensuring technical sophistication and precision.
The headlights feature high-quality rose gold accents. The front skirt highlights the car’s width with horizontal air intakes. The windscreen frame shines in chrome, and there’s a chrome detail on the sill cladding. The new Mercedes-Maybach SL Monogram Series is equipped with 21-inch forged wheels in a 5-hole design.
The soft top is well-insulated with light black fabric, subtly featuring the Maybach pattern in dark gray. The rear includes rear lights with the Maybach logo, a unique rear skirt with chrome trim, a special diffuser design, and tailpipe trims with a horizontal bar. Behind the seats, an aerodynamic double scoop enhances the car’s look. Along with the chrome fin on the bonnet, it gives the two-seater an elegant and sporty profile, especially when the top is down.
The silver brake calipers with “MAYBACH” lettering highlight the braking system. They emphasize the high performance and luxury of the Mercedes-Maybach SL Monogram Series, showcasing elegance in every detail.
Interior
Inside, the soft, white leather creates a beautiful atmosphere. You can find it on the door panels, center console, and comfy seats, which now feature a new floral design. The area behind the seats is also covered in white leather. The shiny seat backs and silver trim add an eye-catching contrast. The special roof liner in crystal white microfibre gives the cabin a unique feel.
The car has a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument display and an 11.9-inch center display that show exclusive Maybach animations and styles. Other brand features include a wood and leather steering wheel, stainless steel pedals, and illuminated door sills with “Maybach” written on them.
You can enjoy open-air driving any time of year. The AIRSCARF system wraps warm air around the driver’s neck, allowing both the driver and passenger to feel comfortable even in cooler weather.
The ENERGIZING Package Plus boosts comfort with adjustable seat climate control, ambient lighting, and multi-contour seats that have a massage feature. This system helps keep the driver alert and ensures a pleasant ride.
Further enhancing the experience inside are the Burmester high-end 3D surround sound system, a head-up display, and plush floor mats. The vehicle key, which is glossy white with a rose gold trim, adds to the exclusivity of this iconic model.
Performance, handling and comfort
The driving experience of the Maybach includes quiet and comfortable, hence, the SL 680 Monogram Series is equipped with a noise-optimised exhaust system, an extensive insulation and absorption package as well as a comfort-oriented suspension set-up and soft engine mounts. The blend of the 4.0-litre biturbo engine with 430 kW (585 hp) and smooth-shifting 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission with adapted accelerator pedal characteristics offers supremely dynamic driving pleasure.
The rear-axle steering helps the car turn easily while still being stable for a safe drive. The electronic rear axle locking differential improves power distribution to reduce slip and boost driving stability.
The Mercedes-Maybach SL Monogram Series comes with ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension and a front axle lift system that raises the front by up to 30 mm to protect the bumper from damage.
Safety features include the Driving Assistance Package, Parking Package with Memory Parking Assist, MAGIC VISION CONTROL, and GUARD 360° vehicle protection Plus with Digital Extras.
