Maxis has recently showcased its Maxis Mobile Identity solution, which delivers seamless, secure, and simplified authentication experiences for mobile users. The solution leverages a suite of advanced telco verification application programming interfaces (APIs), starting with Number Verify API.
The Number Verify API checks mobile devices by confirming that the phone number matches the one on the device using real-time telco data. This simplifies user experiences from app onboarding to password resets and logins, replacing SMS-based one-time passwords (OTPs) or transaction authorization codes (TACs).
Mobile numbers can be verified securely in the background without leaving the platform, creating a smoother user experience. This solution also improves security by minimizing the risk of scams and fraud through SMS verification, making it perfect for customers of banks and e-commerce platforms.
Maxis Mobile Identity was presented at the Smart Nation Expo 2024 with Minister of Digital, YB Gobind Singh Deo in attendance. After the event, Maxis Business aims to connect with financial institutions, e-commerce platforms, and app developers to encourage the use of advanced API solutions that enhance user experience.
Prateek Pashine, Chief Enterprise Business Officer of Maxis said, “We are excited to explore the many possibilities enabled by telco APIs to further enhance customer experience. With this solution, we are not only simplifying the process for users but also safeguarding them against fraud and scams. We believe the adoption of more such API-based solutions will unlock greater possibilities for businesses and industries to deliver more seamless and secure digital interactions end-to-end.”
The Maxis Mobile Identity solution allows different operators to work together. Maxis is teaming up with Singtel to create a regional telco API network that enables mobile subscribers to authenticate using the network. This partnership comes from the Bridge Alliance API Exchange (BAEx) initiative, supported by 13 top telcos in Asia, including Maxis.
This solution follows the GSMA Open Gateway framework (CAMARA), a global initiative for universal access that allows fast deployment and integration across various countries and mobile networks, benefiting more service providers and users. Also, the API’s compatibility with CAMARA’s standards makes it easier for developers to integrate, leading to the creation of more reliable, efficient, and secure mobile apps.
