The Board of Directors of HEINEKEN Malaysia has nominated Martijn Rene van Keulen as the successor to Roland Bala, who will take over as Managing Director of Multi Bintang Indonesia on 1 July 2024. Bala has been Managing Director of HEINEKEN Malaysia since September 2018, leading the company to record performance for 2022. He has successfully implemented the HEINEKEN Global EverGreen strategy, focusing on meeting consumer and customer needs through effective commercial execution, sales transformation, cost efficiency improvement, and sustainability initiatives.
Roland has fostered a culture of One Strong Winning Team within HEINEKEN Malaysia, promoting high performance and inclusive leadership. With over 50% of the extended Leadership Team being women, HEINEKEN Malaysia has become a leading exporter of talent for the HEINEKEN Asia Pacific region. Over the past five years, Roland has dealt with major challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic and implemented key initiatives such as setting up e-commerce platforms, reorganizing sales structures, and brewery upgrades.
Mr. Rene van Keulen is a Dutch Managing Director who has led an ambitious transformation agenda and delivered strong performance despite challenging times. He has held various Commercial positions before joining HEINEKEN International in 2000. The Board wishes to congratulate Roland on his new assignment and thank him for his outstanding service and significant contributions to the Group.
