KLCC Group has launched the fourth edition of Sustainable September, an annual campaign that involves the Group, its subsidiaries, and the community in KLCC Precinct and Putrajaya to promote more liveable, sustainable, and community-focused areas.
Partners in this initiative include Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur, Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Suria KLCC, Petrosains, Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS, DoubleTree by Hilton Putrajaya Lakeside, and The Everly Putrajaya. New partners this year are Fraser Residence Putrajaya and Destina Putrajaya. This time, the campaign extends to Putrajaya, increasing its community impact.
Under the theme “Shaping the Precinct We Love”, the month-long campaign focuses on making sustainability easier and more practical through four key areas: Move Better, Live Greener, Care Together, and Inspire Change. It encourages everyone in the area to make choices that help create a better environment for everyone.
The launch was led by Datuk Sr Mohd. Salem Kailany, Group Chief Executive Officer of KLCC Holdings (Sdn) Bhd, and kicked off with a workout featuring local celebrities Atilia Haron and Mimifly, followed by various activities that promote wellness, environmental action, community involvement, and sustainable living.
In his keynote, Datuk Salem highlighted the importance of collective action in shaping a more sustainable and liveable precinct, including KLCC’s ambition to progress towards becoming a Zero Waste District.
“Sustainable September reflects our belief that shaping a precinct that people love begins with the everyday choices we make and the collective actions we take. This year, we are taking the first step towards exploring a more coordinated, precinct-wide approach to waste reduction, in line with the KLCC Sustainability Plan 2030. We are also extending the campaign beyond the KLCC Precinct to Fraser Residence Putrajaya and Destina Putrajaya to create more opportunities for the wider community to participate. Through greater collaboration across our assets and communities, we hope to turn positive actions into lasting habits and create more liveable places for generations to come,” said Datuk Salem.
Destina Putrajaya, located in Precinct 7, is the city’s first transit-oriented development, opened in July and managed by Putrajaya Holdings. The new Fraser Residence Putrajaya offers contemporary service apartments within TERRA, an integrated mixed-use development.
Sustainable September fosters community engagement through initiatives that promote practical steps toward sustainability. Robert Hatton-Jones, Deputy General Manager of Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, highlighted the role of partnerships in converting sustainability commitments into actionable experiences that encourage participation.
“Meaningful change happens when organisations, partners and communities come together with a shared purpose. Sustainable September provides a platform for us to translate that purpose into practical and accessible activities – from healthier living and continuous learning to volunteering and environmental action. By making these activities engaging and relevant, we hope to inspire more people to play an active role in building a more responsible and connected community,” said Robert.

This year’s programme includes a Pledge element, encouraging participants to make a personal commitment towards a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle, aiming to turn these pledges into lasting habits beyond Sustainable September.
Sustainable September runs all month across the precinct and Putrajaya, emphasizing that sustainability should be part of daily life, not just an annual discussion.
