Kamakura’s famous Warabimochi has arrived in Malaysia, bringing a true taste of Japan. It debuted on 28 February 2025 with a pop-up store at APW Bangsar, where visitors could enjoy freshly made Warabimochi, learn about its history, and see the careful craftsmanship that goes into each piece.
Kamakura will officially open at Mid Valley Megamall on 14 March 2025, followed by Pavilion Kuala Lumpur on 29 March 2025, offering a peaceful space for customers to enjoy its signature Warabimochi treats, including seasonal and exclusive options.

“We are thrilled to introduce Kamakura’s exceptional Warabimochi to Malaysia,” says Billy Koh, CEO of Kamakura Malaysia. “Malaysians have a discerning palate, and we believe they’ll appreciate the unique texture and refined flavors that make our Warabimochi so special. It’s a true taste of Japanese culinary artistry. We’ve carefully sourced the finest ingredients and maintained the traditional methods of preparation to ensure that every piece of Warabimochi we serve is a testament to Kamakura’s heritage.”

Warabimochi Kamakura is a celebration of traditional craftsmanship, lovingly made with a special mix of high-quality Japanese ‘warabi powder’. Unlike firmer types, Kamakura’s Warabimochi has a chewy, melt-in-your-mouth texture, thanks to the expert kneading skills of its makers. It is known for its clear, jelly-like appearance, sprinkled with finely roasted kinako (soybean flour) and drizzled with Kamakura’s own ‘kuromitsu’, made from unique Okinawan black sugar. This creates a delightful mix of sweet and nutty flavors.
Its great success in Singapore, Hong Kong, China, and Australia shows how much people love its unique Warabimochi, which is made with care and authenticity. Now, Malaysians can experience what makes Warabimochi Kamakura a favorite among food lovers everywhere, inviting them to enjoy a genuine taste of Japan.
