inDrive has received confirmation from the Ministry of Transport (MoT) and the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) to continue operations in Malaysia after a review process.

During a press conference, inDrive emphasized its cooperation with Malaysian authorities and commitment to providing accessible, fair, and compliant ride-hailing services. They confirmed that all drivers must have valid E-Hailing Vehicle Permits, Public Service Vehicle licenses, and e-hailing insurance, along with passing document verification. The company is enhancing internal checks in collaboration with APAD to strengthen compliance.

“We are grateful to the Ministry of Transport and APAD for granting us the green light to continue our operations in Malaysia. This milestone reflects our steadfast commitment to full regulatory compliance, not just as a requirement, but as a long-term operational principle. More importantly, it allows us to continue supporting the thousands of local drivers who rely on inDrive to earn a sustainable income. With one of the lowest commission rates in the industry, where 85%-90% of income goes directly to our drivers, helping them better support their families and improve their livelihoods,” said Govin Kumaar, Country lead of inDrive Malaysia

inDrive’s model allows drivers and riders to agree on fair fares and charges lower platform fees, serving as a lifeline for thousands of drivers in Malaysia and 47 other countries. The platform ensures that all drivers are licensed and carry e-hailing insurance.

With the announcement, inDrive is enhancing its presence in Malaysia while aiming to impact 1 billion people globally. They are introducing improved procedures for driver onboarding and re-verification to meet compliance and safety standards. The company is also focusing on driver support and retention for a better rider experience, along with enhanced internal audits to maintain documentation and platform integrity. Additionally, inDrive Academy offers e-learning resources for driver development.

Looking forward, inDrive is launching an initiative to improve mobility access for persons with disabilities (OKU), reaffirming its commitment to inclusive transportation and community engagement.

“We are committed to rebuilding with purpose and strengthening our presence in Malaysia’s mobility landscape. Healthy competition in the e-hailing space drives innovation, raises service standards, and ensures more choice for Malaysians in how they move, work, and earn. As we move forward, our priority is to expand access, empower drivers, and improve mobility for all. Malaysia has long been a strategic market for us and continues to lead in innovation and inclusivity across ASEAN. We are here for the long term and ready to work alongside regulators, drivers, and communities to shape a mobility ecosystem that truly works for everyone,” said Mark Tolley, APAC Director at inDrive.
