Astro and Max are creating a captivating experience in Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown, transforming Kwai Chai Hong into a post-apocalyptic setting inspired by The Last of Us Season Two. The HBO Original The Last of Us Season two’s Kwai Chai Hong takeover is happening from 1-11 May 2025 with operation hours from 9am until 12am.
Max and Astro join forces with Malaysian artist Akid One to create a mural of The Last of Us at Kwai Chai Hong. This mural will feature an additional piece by Daphy that captures the themes of The Last of Us Season Two, enhanced by atmospheric sound effects and cinematic lighting, inviting the public to experience a world inspired by the series.
Whether you are a loyal fan of the Emmy-winning drama series or looking for the next Instagram-worthy spot, this one-of-a-kind showcase is the place to be this May. Open all day, the installations are free for visitors to explore from 1 to 11 May, 2025. In addition, Astro customers will have a chance to redeem exclusive swag from The Last of Us Season two through the My Astro app and Astro, available from 9 to 11 May, 2025, at Kwai Chai Hong – while stocks last (T&Cs apply).
The Last of Us Season two occurs five years after the first season, featuring Joel and Ellie facing conflicts in a more perilous world. Returning cast members include Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Gabriel Luna, and Rutina Wesley, alongside new additions like Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, and Jeffrey Wright, with Catherine O’Hara guest-starring.
The series is available on Max and HBO (CH 411), with new episodes released every Monday until the season finale on 26 May 2025. From 24 May to 30 June 2025, new Astro customers can get a 50% discount on Max’s annual subscription.
