Emirates launches world’s first U-Dream headrest for Economy Class

Emirates has officially introduced the U-Dream Headrest – a game-changing new seat addition that allows Economy Class customers to experience a whole new level of support and comfort inflight. Installation is already in progress across Emirates’ fleet, backed by a substantial investment, showing the airline’s dedication to improving the experience for Economy Class customers.

The U-Dream is a specially designed headrest that offers full support for your neck and head while you sleep or relax. It will be added to Emirates Economy Class seats on all Emirates A350s and most Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s. As the first airline in the world to use it, Emirates customers are already praising the U-Dream headrest.

This headrest is part of Emirates’ new Z400 seat by Safran Seats. It is made of leather, padded, and has flexible side wings that can fold inwards to gently support your head and neck. This design helps you sleep comfortably without your head leaning forward or sideways. The headrest can move up and down and tilt to suit different heights and body types, ensuring a personalized fit during your flight. The U-Dream has been tested and confirmed to meet strict safety standards set by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Emirates is offering this advanced headrest widely, giving Economy Class travelers a level of comfort usually found in premium seats.

Sir Tim Clark, President Emirates Airline said:

‘Emirates never rests on its laurels when it comes to customer experience and we have found a way to significantly improve the comfort for Economy Class passengers, especially those travelling long-haul. The U-Dream changes the game if the person wants to sleep – by supporting the neck in full. No more neck pillows needed. It’s another innovation that shows our commitment to customers and cements our Economy Class as the best.’

Customers are saying that the U-Dream headrest is simple to adjust and use. Emirates cabin crew are trained to help customers when needed. The leather headrest can be easily wiped clean and is sanitized after each flight.

The U-Dream headrest is currently installed on 3 x A350 aircraft, and Emirates is working to install more quickly. By the end of the year, all Emirates A350 aircraft will have the U-Dream headrest, thanks to a partnership with Safran Seats. It will also be included in all 270 Boeing 777Xs ordered by Emirates. Starting in 2027, the U-Dream headrest will be added to retrofitted Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s.
