SUKMA 2024 in Sarawak saw Minister of Communications, YB Fahmi Fadzil experiencing Stadium Sarawak via VR headset from Putrajaya, powered by 5G-Advanced (5G-A). This was made possible through a collaboration between CelcomDigi and U Mobile, with technology partner ZTE Corporation, to demonstrate the power of 5G-A in enabling digital innovations.

Multiple 360° cameras installed in the sports arena provide an Extended Reality (XR) experience through VR headsets, allowing viewers to see real-time sporting action in a 360° view. 5G-A technology enhances this experience by expanding virtual reality, augmented reality, and cloud gaming capabilities, providing users with a high-data-rate experience on the go.

In addition to the cameras, a collaboration has also introduced 5G-A technology for the first-ever 5G-A live broadcast of the SUKMA 2024 Opening Ceremony in Sarawak, broadcasted nationally via Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM). This partnership breaks records with the fastest mobile speeds of 30.8Gbps achieved in a live trial in Kuching, Sarawak, offering broadcasters like RTM flexibility and real-time coverage capabilities like never before.
