BMW Malaysia has unveiled the 2024 BMW i5 M60 xDrive and the locally assembled BMW 520i at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024. The BMW 5 Series, the heart of the BMW brand, will include two fully electric variants sold under the BMW i5 name: the BMW i5 eDrive40 and the BMW i5 M60 xDrive. The All-New BMW i5 M60 xDrive embodies the perfect fusion of modernity and performance, with striking design elements such as the M performance kidney grille, BMW Iconic Glow exterior package, sleek body lines, and vertical LED strips in the headlights.
2024 BMW i5 eDrive40
The sedan retains its 21-inch aerodynamic wheels from the BMW individual line, a coupé-like silhouette, and slender LED taillights. The luxurious interior design is a hallmark of the BMW 5 Series, featuring the BMW Curved Display, a 12.3-inch instrument panel with a 14.9-inch touchscreen Control Display, and the Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System. The BMW Operating System 8.5 displays unique digital innovations for optimal driver connectivity, such as the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, BMW Maps, and the Digital Key Plus with security optimized Ultra-Wideband (UWB) radio.
The 2024 BMW i5 M60 xDrive sets new benchmarks in electric performance, featuring two electric motors that drive all four wheels and deliver an impressive 442 kW/601 hp, along with a maximum torque of 795 Nm. With such power, the sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 230 km/h. Its space-saving high-voltage 83.9 kwH battery provides ample range for long-distance journeys.
The BMW i5 M60 xDrive offers a range of advanced features to enhance driving dynamics and comfort. The Adaptive M Suspension Professional, which uses an M-specific characteristic for damper forces, provides precise handling and dynamic steering response. Active Roll Stabilization, featuring Active Roll Comfort, enhances agility and driving precision by providing better roll support and reducing body roll caused by uneven road surfaces. This feature also maintains a horizontal body position, allowing passengers to focus on work or entertainment without disturbance.
The i5 M60 xDrive also features adaptive recuperation and heat pump technology for interior heating and cooling, optimizing range and efficiency. With a range of up to 516 kilometers (WLTP), the i5 M60 xDrive offers impressive range capabilities. The new MAX RANGE function allows for an increase of up to 25% in range by limiting power and speed and deactivating comfort functions when required. The i5 M60 xDrive is equipped with 22 kW AC charging, providing greater flexibility for home and public charging.
The Driving Assistant Professional provides exceptional support for drivers during extensive travels and urban commutes. It includes Distance Control with Stop & Go function, Steering and Lane Control Assistant, Automatic Speed Limit Assist, route control, and active navigation guidance. The system also incorporates essential safety components like Side Collision Protection with active return, Road Priority Warning, Wrong-way warning, front and rear Crossing-traffic Warning with braking function, Emergency Lane Assistant, and Emergency Stop Assistant.
The i5 M60 xDrive comes in a diverse array of exterior colors include Black Sapphire Metallic, Mineral White Metallic, Brooklyn Grey Metallic, Phytonic Blue Metallic, Sophisto Grey Metallic, Oxide Grey Metallic, Cape York Green Metallic, and Fire Red Metallic and premium upholstery options, including Leather Merino Black / Atlas Grey, Leather Merino Copper Brown / Atlas Grey, and Leather Merino Silverstone / Atlas Grey.
2024 BMW 520i
The 2024 BMW 520i is a sleek and sporty sedan with similar design to the BMW i5, now offers a sporty rear section and 19-inch aerodynamic wheels 934 bicolour grey. Its interior design blends functionality with elegance, featuring a two-spoked steering wheel with integrated controls and a flattened bottom section. The BMW Curved Display, a 12.3-inch instrument display and a 14.9-inch touchscreen Control Display, is a driver-oriented option. The illuminated BMW Interaction Bar simplifies air conditioning control, while a wireless charging tray keeps smartphones charged. The iDrive Controller and other center console control panel elements have been redesigned, ensuring easy operation.
The B48 4-cylinder engine, now in 48V mild hybrid form, delivers a robust performance, generating 153 kW/208 hp and 330 Nm torque. The mild hybrid system enhances efficiency and reduces emissions, making the 520i a formidable contender in the premium sedan segment. The Driving Assistant Plus, which includes Active Cruise Control, Steering, Lane Control Assistant, and Lane Departure Warning, enhances driving safety and convenience. The 520i is available in stunning exterior colors like Black Sapphire Metallic, Mineral White Metallic, Phytonic Blue Metallic, and Cape York Green Metallic, and in two luxurious upholstery options: Veganza Perforated with Quilted Black and Veganza Perforated with Quilted Espresso Brown.
BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia is offering customers a RM10,000 cash rebate on the Easy Drive Financing Plan until 30th June. The 2024 BMW i5 M60 xDrive and BMW 520i will come with a BMW Group Malaysia Premium Ownership experience, including an 8-Year Battery Warranty, BMW Roadside Assistance and Accident Hotline, and BMW Service Online. The estimated pricing for the i5 M60 xDrive and 520i is RM 480,000 and RM 340,000, respectively, without insurance.
