Wimp 2 Warrior appoints ex-Centrepoint Alliance CEO, Angus Benbow, as co-CEO and CRO

Wimp 2 Warrior (W2W) has appointed ex-CEO of both Thorney Investments-backed Centrepoint Alliance and Shadforth Financial Group, Angus Benbow, to lead the business as co-CEO and CRO.

Mr. Benbow will take over the management and running of W2W globally, splitting responsibilities with concurrent CEO and co-founder Nick Langton across capital programs, strategy, investor relations, and W2W’s global technology rollout.

Mr. Benbow’s time at the helm of listed financial services company Centrepoint Alliance saw him grow fee-for-service revenue by over 100 per cent, invest in a new data and technology platform, and oversee the acquisition of a leading advice technology firm.

At wealth advice and portfolio management business Shadforth Financial Group, he was responsible for 400 staff and ~$15 billion in Funds Under Advice (FUA).

He also held executive roles at News Corp Australia, ASX-listed wealth manager Perpetual, global management consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton, and began his career as an officer in the Royal Australian Navy. Here he began as a helicopter pilot and ended as a deputy director responsible for oversight of costing data and technology of a multi-billion annual operational budget.

Mr. Benbow is proud of what he has achieved in financial advice and is excited to focus on “a truly global technology play with a solid core offering and powerhouse executive team”.

Angus Benbow, co-CEO & CRO at W2W, said: “Nick and the team have built W2W into a truly global and highly-scalable technology play. It’s an amazing opportunity to join at this early stage of growth, and to leverage my executive experience in financial services and technology deployment to help transform the company even further.

“W2W’s programs, delivered by elite MMA athletes and world-renowned coaches, fundamentally change peoples’ lives – and that is a powerful thing. They also generate significant new and ongoing revenue for our participant gyms.

“We help those MMA gyms significantly improve their financial wellbeing and sustainability through a platform that provides payments functionality and automation that reduces or completely eliminates delinquencies, along with member recruitment, engagement, and retention tools.

“Our holistic W2W system is a gamechanger for combat sports gyms globally.”

Nick Langton, co-founder & CEO at W2W, said: “Angus is coming onboard right as we begin dramatically scaling the business and rapidly accelerating our technology rollout across North America, Europe, New Zealand, and into new growth opportunities emerging in India.

“His seasoned and experienced leadership, as well as his complementary skill sets in operations across financial services and technology deployment, will be invaluable at this critical stage.”

Mr. Benbow’s appointment follows other recent high-level hires including veteran MMA executive Rich Chou as VP of North America, and James Fleet as chief technology officer.

W2W also recently closed an oversubscribed $7.5 million to roll out an online training delivery platform across 140+ participating gyms across 9 countries, soon becoming available to millions of members and ultimately any MMA gym in the world.
