Mountain Village Restaurant, located at SS2,PJ, recently has officially open and invited media to taste its authentic Nyonya dishes and indulge in a variety of local delights. Their specialities include Nyonya Kahwin, which lets you taste the combination of spiciness as well as sourness from both curry laksa and asam laksa all at once, and its 3 Layer Tea which comes in a vividly blue texture tea as it is made of butterfly pea flower, Gula Melaka and evaporated milk.

“I grew up in Malacca and have enjoyed Nyonya dishes since I was young. However, I found out that Nyonya dishes are getting pricier for the community. Hence, my wife and I decided to deliver our love of Nyonya culture to people in Klang Valley with delicious local delights at reasonable prices,” said the Mountain Village Restaurant owner and chef.

One of the key selling point for Mountain Village Restaurant is their pocket-friendly price. Customers can enjoy meals at prices from as low as RM 1.50 and drinks at only RM 1.30 here. There is a huge variety of meals which you can choose from nasi lemak, nyonya mee siam, nyonya mee pedas, penang kuey teow, claypot yee mee and many more.

For the food, I have tested the Nyonya Curry and Nasi Goreng Nyonya. The Nyonya Curry is pretty flavourful thanks to shrimp used in the curry soup base. The portion for the Nyonya Curry is quite adequate for those who are not looking for something too heavy and the ingredients are quite fresh. As for the Nasi Goreng Nyonya, it is similar with Nasi Goreng Kampung as you get anchovies and good amount of chilis in the fried rice and it’s a must try for fried rice lover. As for the drinks, I have tried their signature 3 Layer Tea and it taste pretty good and highly recommend to try it. I also order Iced Coffee (Kopi Cold), the taste is good for those who wants a slight sweet with the coffee aroma. Overall, the food and drinks have given me a good impression and the pricing is really affordable too.
