A great way to celebrate 50 years of history, driving passion, and performance, Malaysian GTI fans will now have a unique chance to be part of GTI history. For fifty years, the Golf GTI has been celebrated worldwide as the first hot hatch, a car that combines performance, practicality, and everyday driving fun in a way that few others can.
What started as a secret project by a small team of engineers in the 1970s to create a sportier Golf became a beloved classic that is cherished by car lovers. After being launched in Germany in 1976, the GTI has remained the top choice for those who enjoy an exciting drive.

Volkswagen’s GTI 50 campaign is a global celebration of five decades of GTI history, marking the anniversary of its first release in 1976. In Malaysia, fans can look forward to exciting GTI events this year—from social media contests to fun GTI activities at Volkswagen dealerships across the country.
Volkswagen Malaysia is also currently running a Test Drive and Win contest, where customers are invited to test drive any Volkswagen model to be in the running to win a limited edition GTI Touch ‘n Go card. The test drives will need to be completed by 12th July 2026. Test drives can be booked via https://testdrive.volkswagen.com.my/.
