KW automotive has just launched the KW Variant 3 coilover suspension kit at the Essen Motor Show for Tesla Model Y. The electric-powered SUV benefits from the optional in compression and rebound adjustable KW Variant 3 in handling and better stable support of the higher car body.
The KW shocks feature a two-stage, multi-valve damper technology that allows the damping forces to be tuned. The adjustable low-speed rebound stage influences the rebound during load changes in the compressed state. It’s to adjust the handling characteristics to be stiffer or more comfortable. The low-speed compression stage further influences the steering and pitching behavior of the heavy electric SUV when braking and accelerating. To a certain extent, the compression valve affects the ride comfort.
With the KW coilover suspension kit made of stainless steel both axles of the Tesla Model Y (AWD) are adjustable in the lowering between 25 and 50 millimeters. In development already is the KW Variant 3 coilover suspension kit for the Tesla Model Y with rear-wheel-drive and is targeted to launch in Spring 2022.
