As you can see, many people in Malaysia are still looking for an affordable tablet to perform quick task and enjoy some entertainment. The launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite in Malaysia has been a good news for the many likes in Malaysia. But the number one question is always what are you getting with the device in Malaysia and how’s the tablet work?

So, let’s find out what you’re getting when you purchase or planning to get the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite in Malaysia today. By the way, check out the video above as well for the full unboxing and trying out the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite.

Unboxing

The box is labeled that it is printed on soy ink!

Lets talk about the packaging first. It has minimalistic design and it is printed on soy ink. This align with Samsung’s plan to reduce the carbon footprint.

Once you open the box, you will just get the tablet, manual guide, quick start guide, warranty card, sim slot ejector, USB Type-C cable and a 7.8W charger. That’s all. The tablet doesn’t comes with any screen protector so you need to be careful when taking it out and start using. If you need extra protection, try getting a screen protector and perhaps a case for the tablet.

Impression on the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite – Entry level tablet with good build and easy to operate with one hand

The first time you pick up the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite, you will notice the 8.7″ TFT 1340 x 800 (WXGA+) display. Although its a LCD display, the brightness on the tablet is really good for indoor though at outdoor it’s not bright enough to see clearly. You don’t get any fast refresh rate (just standard 60hz) here but it is sufficient enough for everyday use. The display is definitely good for binging on your favourite streaming service. However, you cannot adjust the colours on the display here. You have Eye comfort shield here to reduce the blue light to protect your eyes. One thing to note as well, the display is easily to get smudges and has quite a glaring effect.

Design wise, the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is a straight-forward with minimalist entry-level tablet. The tablet has a glass front, aluminum back finishing. On top, you have one of the dual speakers grill and on the bottom, you’ll get a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port and the speaker grill. For the left side of the tablet you get a MicroSD card slot that supports up to 1TB MicroSD card. You can’t put any sim card because you can only get the WiFi model in Malaysia. On the right side, you will the power button on top and the volume control at the bottom. The power button is located a bit too top for my liking and both power and volume control button is a bit soft. The tablet is weighed at 366g and has a 212.5 x 124.7 x 8.0 mm dimension which really helps user to use it with one hand.

You can play some game on the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite but prepare for long loading times and set the games to the lowest graphic settings for optimum gameplay

The tablet is powered by Mediatek Helio P22 T with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage (you can only get this one variant in Malaysia). In terms for performance, it works fine for light task and gaming only. You will definitely feel the loading time on the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite for gaming is a bit long but it definitely can run the game if you’re ok to set them at the lowest graphic settings.

How many entry level tablet you can find that runs Android 11 out of the box today?

It is also worth to note that this entry level tablet is running with the latest Android 11 and OneUI 3.1 out of the box. This is good news for those who really need the latest Android to run their app. You can run two app at the same time on the tablet with split app or pop up style. One best thing for the tablet is the access the Play Store and Galaxy Store to get your apps here as well.

The speakers are really good here. The volume is loud enough and it supports Dolby Atmos. You can hear the difference once you turned on the Dolby Atmos. The 3.5mm headphone jack is here if you want to have a more immersive audio experience when binging on your favourite show. You can pair it with any Galaxy Buds as well because it has Bluetooth connection.

In the battery department, you will get a 5100mAh battery which is good to last a day of usage if you’re a heavy user. Although it supports 15W “Fast charging”, it still takes a very long time to charge so make sure to juice up the tablet earlier if you need to use it for a longer period.

There is an 8MP camera on the rear and 2MP Front Facing camera for the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite. The rear camera is usable for photos and video however, I couldn’t say the same for the selfie camera especially if you need to take video. One good thing for the selfie camera is the Face Unlock feature so if you’re used to the feature then you will surely benefit from it.

Overall, the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is quite good for an entry level Android tablet that runs Android 11 and you can purchase right now in Malaysia for the price of RM699. Do stay tune for the full in-depth review on experiencing the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite which should be coming up within next 2 weeks.
