U Mobile and Enfrasys Solutions have completed a private 5G network proof-of-concept (PoC). The aim of the PoC is to automate Transocean Logistics’ container inspection process using their 5G private network capabilities and Enfrasys Solutions’ Container Vision application, which leverages multi-access-edge computing (MEC). The PoC was made possible by ZTE Corporation’s support for the provision of 5G RAN and 5G Core infrastructure for the private network. This collaboration marks Transocean Logistics as the first container depot in Malaysia to adopt such technology to automate its container inspection process, a critical aspect of logistics operations.

The PoC showcased the benefits of using 5G and MEC, facilitated by Container Vision’s artificial intelligence (AI) features. The solution enabled Transocean Logistics’ inspectors to scan and detect defects in real-time using AI on containers arriving at Transocean Logistics’ depot site in Butterworth, Penang. During the PoC, Transocean Logistics witnessed up to 70% improvement in time required to complete the detection process compared to existing practices.
U Mobile’s low latency and high bandwidth private 5G network supported Enfrasys Solutions’ Container Vision application, enabling seamless digitalisation for Transocean Logistics’ container inspection process. The end-to-end digitalization of Transocean Logistics’ container inspection process improved inspection accuracy and governance, with all data securely stored within the private network. MEC also improved data processing and response time, allowing inspectors to detect and log defects instantaneously.
This PoC demonstrates U Mobile’s strategic value as a partner for enterprises on a digitalisation journey, as they have a range of 5G enterprise services available for businesses both large and small. Enfrasys Solutions is looking forward to enabling further benefits to other logistics clients and beyond by harnessing automation enabled by AI.
