The Toyota GR Malaysia eRacing Championship Grand Finals will take place on 10-11 October at Sunway University, featuring the top 20 simulator racers competing for RM123,000 in prize money and the chance to represent Malaysia internationally. Now in its eighth year, the event promotes virtual racing as a pathway to real-world motorsport, evolving from the former GT Cup Malaysia. It aims to discover and nurture young talents through the Toyota GAZOO Racing Young Talent Development Programme, focusing on discipline, teamwork, mental resilience, and professional growth both on and off the track.
“This year’s introduction of multi-platform qualifying has elevated the competition, producing more all-rounder champions who demonstrate versatility, adaptability, and strategic thinking,” said Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor. “It reflects our commitment to holistic talent development — nurturing individuals who demonstrate excellence in motorsports, resilience, leadership, and character alike.”
The Grand Finals also open registration for the 2026 Toyota GAZOO Racing Young Talent Development Programme, allowing young drivers to compete in the Rookie Class of the 2026 Toyota GAZOO Racing Malaysia Vios Challenge. Drivers aged 16 to 22 can apply, whether they have sim racing or karting experience.
The selected participants will undergo holistic training under experts, serving as a launch pad for many top racers in Malaysia. Interested individuals can register at https://tyt.my/rookiesignup2026 from 11 Oct onwards.
This year’s championship has evolved to include platforms like Assetto Corsa, RaceRoom, iRacing, and Gran Turismo 7, enhancing the competition’s scope for aspiring digital racers. Notably, 35% of this year’s Semi-Finalists are new faces to Toyota’s sim racing competition.
With a combined prize pool of RM123,000, the championship aims to find Malaysia’s next generation of racing talent. The Grand Finals winner will represent Malaysia at the TGR Asia Esports GT Championship in Bangkok this November.
Toyota’s Campus Tour brings sim racing excitement to universities, allowing students to experience professional-grade simulators, with the top 10 from each campus qualifying for the national championship. The tour has already produced 3 drivers for the Toyota GAZOO Racing Young Talent Development Programme.
Both the championship and Campus Tour are platforms for discovery and empowerment, aligning with Toyota’s vision of Mobility for All. Join the excitement of the Grand Finals live at Sunway University or via livestream this weekend with free admission and opportunities to win a VIP experience at the Season 8 Vios Challenge Finale in January 2026.
