Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup Malaysia 2024 increases prize pool to RM120,500

The Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup Malaysia 2024, Malaysia’s most lucrative online racing series, is now open for registration. The series’ prize pool has grown from RM70,000 in 2018 to RM120,500 this year.

The Qualifiers, which start on 22 June 2024, will narrow down the competition to the 40 of Malaysia’s fastest simulator racers for the Grand Finals held from 27-28 July at Sunway University. The top 20 racers in the QuarterFinal advance to the Semi-Final in another showdown to find the ten fastest racers for the 2024 Toyota GR GT Cup Malaysia champion.

As the only online racing series in Malaysia, supported by a carmaker since 2018, the Toyota GR GT Cup Malaysia series attracts more than 3 million online viewers. Last year, Taj Izrin Aiman Taj Madira became the most decorated Toyota GR GT Cup Malaysia racer, followed by Dhanesh Wigneswaran and Chong Kai Chang. This year’s top three winners will represent Malaysia in the regional competition and be in the running to compete in the World Finals. The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing roving truck will return to eight universities in Peninsular Malaysia in Season 7.

“The last seven years have been an exciting journey not only for online racing enthusiasts but also for us at Toyota. Our foray into Malaysian motorsports has always been to contribute to making it more dynamic. We continue to invest and expand our initiatives beyond just organizing a one-make saloon car racing series and also include online racing. Today, we also emphasize creating a foundation to help develop young drivers with the potential to transform their passion into a profession,” said UMW Toyota Motor President Datuk Ravindran K.

“The combination of physical and online racing activities has also enabled even simulator racers to make a successful transition to saloon car racing, and several outstanding individuals have even progressed to compete and win on the racing track internationally on their own and beyond Toyota’s existing programs.

“For those who harbor the same dream, the Toyota GR GT Cup Malaysia online racing series is essentially the first important step towards this.”
