TikTok brings #IniStyleKita campaign for Merdeka and Malaysia Day celebration

TikTok Malaysia is running a campaign for Merdeka and Malaysia Day celebration called #IniStyleKita, aiming to help Malaysians express their true Malaysian self in many fun and quirky ways that we recognise and relate to.

From 25 August to 16 September 2022, users can participate in the #IniStyleKita campaign and join the hashtag challenge to showcase their Malaysian styles that make us truly Malaysian. Users can also participate in the National Day-themed mini-game to collect points and stand a chance to be one of the top 65 participants and walk away with cool prizes and TikTok merchandise, and even join the TikTok #IniStyleKita Meet & Greet where they can meet some of the best creators in Malaysia.

Throughout the campaign, users can tap into a variety of “Pattern Banyak” activities that include themed effects and music to create content that inspires others to celebrate this National Day. This includes a specially designed AR filter featuring different Malaysian pastimes and actions – whether it is saying as many ‘lahs’ as they can within 7 seconds, teaching a friend words from a local dialect or even sharing their traditional #OOTD – it is up to the users’ creativity to then share content according to the selected theme that the filter lands on.

A series of live-streaming sessions and incentive campaigns will also be available for users to enjoy even more entertaining National Day-related content.

As part of the campaign, TikTok is also introducing an official video that features some of the top creators in Malaysia including Isaac Voo, Sofyank, GiGi, and national badminton hero Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei JP to showcase some of the most iconic Malaysian “Patterns”.

While videos related to festive seasons usually focus on tear-jerking and emotional elements, TikTok decided to go down the fun and engaging route to instead create an atmosphere that was celebratory and entertaining. The creators were given the opportunity to inject their own style and humour into the feature, with some even crafting the words to the catchy rap sequences in the video! To build up the hype in true “On the Way” style, TikTok Malaysia released two teasers in the lead-up to the official video – which is now available on TikTok Malaysia and all its official social media platforms.

“The past two years have no doubt been a challenging time for us as a whole, and through this period, TikTok remains a safe, positive, and fun space for entertaining content. Here, Malaysians can grow, learn and even seek out alternative sources of income even in the toughest of times – so what better way to celebrate our tenacity and can-do attitude than through this campaign that cheers on our unique quirks and habits that make us stronger together as a family? As the theme this year goes ‘Keluarga Malaysia Teguh Bersama’, we want to celebrate the strength in our unity as Malaysians, together, in our own ways, for #IniStyleKita,” said Darren Quek, Strategy Operations Manager, TikTok Malaysia.
