Stellantis Malaysia will be officially commencing its local assembly operations for Leapmotor vehicles at the Stellantis manufacturing hub in Gurun, Kedah. The localised assembly line has started production of the Leapmotor C10, marking a milestone for the nation’s electric vehicle ecosystem, with the B10 to follow.
This initiative shows Stellantis’ commitment to making Malaysia a key manufacturing center, supporting local industry, and providing advanced electric mobility options to the Malaysian market.
To meet Leapmotor’s advanced manufacturing standards, Stellantis has allocated EUR 2.23 million for local assembly development. With C10 production ongoing, operations will expand to B10, starting by the end of 2026. Stellantis has also secured EUR 3.1 million in CAPEX for production line and infrastructure upgrades at the Gurun facility.

By leveraging Stellantis’ strategic partnership with Leapmotor, we are not only accelerating Stellantis’ regional electrification roadmap, but delivering high-tech, accessible mobility solutions for consumers while upskilling our manufacturing capabilities.”
While the production roadmap emphasizes high-quality vehicles for Malaysia, Stellantis is also exploring export opportunities to the wider ASEAN region from Gurun.
To support Leapmotor’s advanced software and vehicle architectures, personnel in Gurun have received specialized training and are certified to handle high-voltage electric vehicle systems up to 800V, preparing the local workforce for an electrified automotive future.
Leapmotor and Stellantis have established a global framework for assembly and quality compliance to ensure manufacturing standards, receiving endorsements from Stellantis teams and regulatory authorities in Malaysia and beyond.
