
Sony has officially launched the latest Xperia 1 VI, featuring a telephoto optical zoom lens that allows for long-distance shooting in superb detail up to x7.1 zoom, using a wide and user-friendly focal length from 85mm to 170mm.

The rear camera integrates AI technology to recognize the human skeleton, enabling precise AF tracking even in challenging shooting scenarios due to potential obstructions that conceal the subject’s visibility. This advanced functionality ensures consistent and accurate tracking, optimizing image capture in diverse environments.

Xperia 1 VI’s rear camera setup now consist of a 24mm wide-angle lens, 16mm ultrawide-angle lens and a 85mm to 170mm telephoto optical zoom lens.

The 24mm wide-angle lens equipped with the image sensor “Exmor T for mobile” captures clear, low-noise images across a spectrum of shooting environments, from daylight to nighttime, indoors to outdoors. The 24mm wide-angle lens is also capable to shoot at double the optical magnification of 48mm as it faithfully reproduces the intricate nuances of human skin tone, texture, and scenery alike, ensuring vivid and lifelike portrayal in both video recordings and still imagery.

The Xperia 1 VI camera app has undergone a significant update, featuring a user-friendly interface designed for seamless navigation. This enhancement prioritizes convenience without compromising on the array of creative tools available, such as special shooting modes like PSM and customisable color presets like ‘Creative Look’.

The display on the Xperia 1 VI optimises Sony’s BRAVIA TV technology which is introducing Xperia’s proprietary AI technology to enhances image quality precision, delivering 1 billion colours. The brightness on the display is boosted by approximately 1.5x for bright conditions and improved visibility under direct sunlight with the “Sunlight Vision” feature.
The full-stage stereo speakers unit’s performance has been enhanced, reducing distortion at high volumes and optimizing low-frequency output for a more immersive audio experience. High-resolution sound is available thanks to the newly upgraded 3.5mm audio jack and wireless via Bluetooth. When paired with select wireless headphones, activating the AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) Connection’ mode enhances sound quality further, even in bustling urban environments, ensuring uninterrupted music enjoyment.
For performance, the Xperia 1 VI is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile and includes Snapdragon Elite Gaming feature support fast and smooth gameplay and video viewing. For mobile gamers, the game enhancer, “FPS Optimizer,” dynamically optimizes CPU usage and frame rate based on the gaming environment. Touch input has been refined, offering three tracking speeds and two levels of tap accuracy. Sony is also adding a new vapor chamber heat-dissipating component for longer sustain performance.

The Xperia 1 VI also has a unique power efficiency technology, allowing continuous video playback for over 36 hours. The device now supports rapid charging, achieving 50% capacity in 30 minutes, and Sony’s proprietary charging optimization technology protects against battery degradation. The battery’s lifespan has been extended with the period for maintaining 80% of maximum capacity now spanning from 3 years to 4 years, ensuring prolonged usage without concerns over battery performance. The device also supports the new wireless standard Wi-Fi 7.
There are also other features available on the new Xperia 1 VI, which includes an enlarged shutter button, tactile design on the back cover, uses sounds to inform users the camera’s horizontal measurement information during shooting and enhancements to Android’s ‘TalkBack’ function for menus on the display are read out in a user-friendly sequence
Sony’s Xperia 1 VI product box and tray are made from bamboo, sugar cane, and recycled paper, resulting in plastic-free packaging. The company has also replaced plastic tape with paper for shipping carton sealing. About 85% of the parts used in the main body are made from environmentally friendly resins, including SORPLAS, a flame-retardant recycled plastic developed by Sony.




There is also an official case cover for the Xperia 1 VI which is called, The Style Cover with Stand for Xperia 1 VI (XQZ-CBEC). It offers a top-of-the-line cover with a bottom grip for easy handling and steady shooting. It also includes a ring strap for stability and supports both horizontal and vertical orientations. The cover mirrors the functional tactile design on the Xperia 1 VI’s back, ensuring the device’s original design remains intact. Available in two colors, the cover is made from SORPLAS, a raw material.



Sony Malaysia has confirmed that the Xperia 1 VI will be available in both Black and Khaki Green versions, in Malaysia from July 2024.Â
