Sony releases the FE 100mm F2.8 Macro GM OSS (SEL100M28GM), the first medium telephoto macro lens in the G Master series, compatible with α E-mount cameras, featuring 1.4x magnification and advanced stabilisation.
The FE 100mm F2.8 Macro GM OSS lens provides a maximum magnification of 1.4x, allowing for detailed close-up photography of flowers and small objects. It is compatible with an optional teleconverter, enabling up to 2.8x magnification while maintaining a comfortable working distance, ideal for challenging subjects and minimizing reflections.
The lens features advanced optical design with two XA lenses and two ED glass elements for high-resolution performance and minimal aberrations. It includes three focus features for macro photography: a Full-time DMF switch for instant manual focus in autofocus mode, a Focus Mode switch for easy AF/MF transition, and a Sliding Focus Ring for full manual focus related to distance and magnification. The lens is equipped with four XD linear motors that enhance autofocus speed by approximately 1.9 times compared to previous models. Additionally, it has a dedicated aperture ring for quick and direct control over aperture settings.
Exquisite Image Quality
The 11-blade circular aperture creates pleasing ball bokeh, while controlled spherical aberration delivers a balance of resolution and background blur characteristic of the G Master line. The “Nano AR Coating II” enhances image quality by minimizing flare and ghosting, even in backlit situations. Additionally, an integrated optical image stabilization system is designed for macro photography, effectively compensating for various types of shake to ensure steady handheld shots.
Sony’s FE 100mm F2.8 Macro GM OSS will be available in Malaysia from November 2025, with pre-orders starting on 1 October 2025 for the price of RM5,999.
