Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2: So impressive that it has left me secretly wanting one

To be honest, when I was invited to Samsung Malaysia event to experience the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2, I didn’t really have much expectation on the foldable smartphone. This is mainly because I am so used to my regular smartphone, I don’t really bother about it. That was until I have experienced the Fold2.

A design that is thoughtfully cater for everyday use

You’ll really need to see upclose of the Galaxy Z Fold2 to admire the uniqueness of Samsung’s design and engineering. The phone main focus is the 2 nearly bezel-less Infinity-O Displays. The Cover Screen measures 6.2-inches while the Main Screen is a massive 7.6 inches, making them both larger than the previous Galaxy Fold. The main screen of the Galaxy Z Fold2 comes with Samsung’s Ultra-Thin Glass to provide a more premium and refined feel for the display. By the way, the main screen has the amazing 120hz fast refresh rate display which guarantee a smooth scrolling experience. I do have to admit that by now, the displays feature really making me more interested on the smartphone.

Anchored by the Hideaway Hinge, which fits seamlessly into the device body with the CAM mechanism, the free-standing capabilities allows you to position the Galaxy Z Fold2 at different angles, which leads to more powerful Flex mode experiences. This allow users to do things like prop the phone up to take selfies or carry out video calls, hands-free. The Flex mode also made the Fold2 looks like a mini laptop too!

Multitask? Just bring it

If you think the Fold2 main screen is just for show, wait till you see when does multitask app. As I was experiencing the Fold2 multitasking, the Samsung reps said it could open 3 apps and another app in floating mode making it possible to open 4 apps at one go. This mode is Multi-Active Window. The Optimized App Display also will give your productivity a boost with an upgrade viewing experience of your favorite apps, including Gmail, YouTube and Spotify. When I looked back at my own phone, I just realised that my phone only can do multitask with a maximum of 2 apps and certain apps are running slightly out of place. The Fold2 just keeps impressing me as I explore the device’s features.

For the Malaysian market, the Fold2 comes only with one variant which is 12GB RAM with 256GB internal storage. It comes with 2 colour options – Mystic Black and Mystic Bronze. Powering the device is a 4500mAh dual battery with Fast Charging compatible on wired and wireless. On the camera department, the Cover and Front Camera is equipped with 10MP Selfie Camera:  F2.2 while the Rear camera is a triple lens setup: 12MP Ultra Wide Camera : F2.2 FOV : 123Ëš, 12MP Wide-angle Camera : F1.8, and 12MP Telephoto Camera : F2.4, 2x in optical zoom, Up to 10x digital zoom.

After the event, I was really impressed with the features and performance of the Fold2 although it was really a brief one. My heart has finally acknowledged that Samsung might have the right ingredients on how future smartphone will looks and performs. After the event, I think I might have developed a desire for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 and it’s a good thing. Hopefully, we can see Samsung could further reduce the price of the foldable phone.
