Improving features and ergonomics while retaining same aesthetic – Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 44mm (Bluetooth) unboxing and first impression in Malaysia

If you’re looking to upgrade or considering joining the smartwatch community in Malaysia, the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series is a great option to consider. With a starting price from RM1,099, you might want to learn more about the Galaxy Watch 6 series and I’m glad to tell you about it in this unboxing and first impression article. Let’s get into it.

Unboxing – Straight to the point

Firstly, my Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 sample review unit is the 44mm Bluetooth variant. Also, you should now know that most Samsung products now are eco-friendly thanks to the company’s sustainability effort. Hence, the unboxing for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 is quite straight forward, you will get the Watch 6, some paper works and a USB Type-C magnetic charger. My sample review unit is the Black Colour.

First Impression – May look aesthetically same to the predecessor, but brings better user experience

Let me firstly comment on Watch 6 design department. Right off the bat, it is still sporting the same design with the Watch 5 series, which has an excellent minimalist design, in my own opinion. You still have the rounded flat AMOLED display and two side buttons mounted on the right side of the Watch 6 body. However, the straps now receives a new one-click straps design, allowing users to easily change their strap to suit their style.

The wearing ergonomics on the Watch6 is still excellent, it feels comfy and light, despite its a 44mm watch body. The ergonomics has also improved thanks to an overall slimmer watch profile. The strap does lock and unlock easily so you don’t have less worries on the watch.

The 1.5 inches Super AMOLED display on the Watch 6 is bright enough to use under bright daylight. Also, the display response is quite accurate and fast too. The display is protected by Sapphire glass while the body chassis is using Armor Aluminum, which is really strong against impact and scratches. The two side buttons also provides great tactile feedback for users to know that they have push the buttons properly.

For this first impression article, I will skip on the health features and battery life as I think that would be more suited as a review. But I am glad to say now the 44mm variant is equipped with a bigger 425 mAh battery, a new Sleep Coach feature to help improve user’s sleeping habit, improved fitness tracking and improved Wear OS 4 with One UI 5 Watch.

Overall, I think the Galaxy Watch 6 44mm (Bluetooth) is great starting point for those who wants to experience a proper premium smartwatch which just priced at RM1,199. Also, if you’re someone value health and fitness tracking in Malaysia, the Galaxy Watch 6 series is a smartwatch you should consider today.
